They tried to covert the Native Americans from their pagan ways.

Roman Catholicism was the religion of Spanish and Portugal.
Protestantism Protestant Christianity came
to Latin America through the British and the Dutch settlers.
About 9% of Latin Americans practice Protestant Christianity.
Mixing of Religions Syncretism- is the blending of
beliefs and practices from different religions into a single faith.
This is true with both Native American and African religions
Known as condomble in Brazil, Santeria in Cuba, or Voodoo in Haiti and Dominican Republic
Traditional Arts Engaged in weaving,
woodcarving, pottery, metalworking, and jewelry making.

Modern Arts Latin American music
combines Native America, European, and African influences.
Musical styles include Brazilian Samba, Cuban Salsa, and the Mexican Mariachi.
Families LA has a strong
sense of loyalty to family.
Many people live with their extended families, including grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Women have made several advances in the recent decades.
Education Most kids are required to
complete elementary school. Many drop out to help the
family by working.
Healthcare Because people are
poor, healthcare is very rare for some.
Suffer from malnutrition (lack of food), unsanitary living places, and disease
