Meet The Team

André Browne, currently employed as Delivery

Co-coordinator at LIME, is a highly self-motivated

individual with a strong background in Computer

Science and Project Management and is currently

pursuing a Master’s degree in Project Management

from Universidad para Cooperación Internacional.

He has been interested in advocating the causes of

CARICOM and youth for many years, which is

demonstrated by his service on the VINSA St.

Augustine Executive in 2010 and involvement on

the CARICOM Youth Ambassadors’ (SVG)

Committee as Deputy CARICOM Youth

Ambassador in the years 2014 and 2015.

André will seek to bring together his experience in

CARICOM matters with his technical skills to contin-

ue to build his country and region in his term as

CARICOM Youth Ambassador.

Chelcia Ferdinand is a graduate of the University of

the West Indies, Mona Campus. After completing her

Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Criminology

(Honours) in 2012, she founded Jhel ProTouch,

which, along with her partner, offers graphic

designing and printing services. She was nominated

for the National Youth Awards (2013) in Entrepreneur-

ship. Prior to pursuing studies, she taught English

Language and Social Studies at the St. Martin's

Secondary School (2008-2009).

Chelcia always had a passion for dancing and

teaching dance. Being a former member of the St.

Vincent and the Grenadines' National Dance Compa-

ny, she was a part of the CARIFESTA X (2009) entou-

rage and travelled to Guyana, representing the island

in dance and song. She currently teaches dance to a

group of ten, ranging from ages 14 to 21.

Chelcia is an advocate for gender equality and youth

involvement in national and regional decision-making.

During her tenure, it is her hope that the Committee

would have achieved its purpose in promoting the

benefits of CARICOM and CSME to local youth,

showing support and actively taking part in helping to

alleviate social ills.

Methodist Church Hall. Hon. Frederick

Stephenson, Minister of National

Mobilization, Social Development, Family,

Persons with Disability and Youth in his

message to be the best they can be and to

represent their country well. He reminded the

members that they are to be tactful and

knowledgeable about CSME as it relates to

its purpose and operations as so to carry out

their task with perfection, they were also

reminded that one of their purposes is to

contribute to the development of St. Vincent

There is strength in unity! Twelve (12) of the fifteen (15) CARICOM member

states have finally decided to come together to live, work and trade in one

economic space, by signing on to the CARICOM Single Market and Economy,

CSME in the year 2006.

Almost a decade later, it seems as if CARICOM has truly up the ante. They

realized that the human resources of each member states must be properly

utilized if they want to see progress of the CSME. Therefore, they used

students, to carry out the mission of “students engaging CSME through field

promotions”. As part of this mission, 19 students of St. Vincent and the

Grenadines, were given the opportunity to go to another member state, St.

Kitts and Nevis to be immersed in the CSME to make an assessment. Three

(3) of the 10 students are currently on the CYA’s committee SVG, along with

female Youth Ambassador Ferdinand. As the batch of dedicated young peo-

ple at the tertiary level set out to reach the objective of becoming fully edu-

cated about CARICOM, they were exposed to careers and the other business

opportunities in St. Kitts and Nevis.

Ambassador Browne along with previous

committee members and employees of

BICKLES acknowledging the 25th

November as #ORANGE –YOUR-WORLD

The United Nations Secretary-General’s UNiTE To

End Violence Against Women campaign was

launched in 2008. The campaign has resulted in the

25th of every month being designated as “Orange

Day”. The CARICOM Youth Ambassadors’ (SVG)

Committee has answered the #orangeyourworld call

and joined the effort to raise public awareness and

increased political will and resources for preventing

and ending all forms of violence against women and

girls throughout the world.

The committee has taken to social media to raise

awareness among local youths by sharing articles

and other media aimed at heightening understand-

ing of the issues surrounding violence against

women and girls. Members have also been utilizing

their personal networks with appropriately

hash-tagged orange day “selfies” indicating their

commitment and stimulating the interest of their

colleagues.
