To the Defense Fund Representatives:
12 EAST 44th STREET
HEW YORIC CITY
VAnderbilt ••• 6- 2 7 3 5
Judge Dorothy Kenyon1 Chzechoslovakian Consul Josef Hanc, Dr . J"ohn Ho Finley, and the Honorable Dave Hennen Morris will speak briefly at the ·Defense :Fund dinner next Monday, May 8, at 6 :30 at the Town Hall Club, 123 West 43rd Street. Come as guests of the committee~ street dress.
Besides a g~od dinner, we need the inspiration that comes from good fellowship, good speakers, and close association in a good cause. We need your presence v'-lhether or not you have a report to makeo In any event, please return the enclosed card.
The t~tal is near $20,000 -fine, considering the timet To reach our goal of $150;000 everyone who can should give something. Everyone should give as much as possible - often $5.00 represents real generosity and interest. It will be necessary for· many to give in the hundreds. The two-year payments should make that possible.
The vast interest in the Frogram and potentialities of Phi Beta Kappa which the workers are discovering, is truly amazingo No one dreamed it existed. Once informed and kept informed, this interest can make Phi Beta Kappa an increasingly potent force for liberal scholarshii and all that means for America and the world.
Please report new ideas, criticisms, available talent, and suggestions. Let's see that every member understands and appreciates Phi Beta Kappafs true significance - and appreciates also that everything we are doing defends and enhances the value of his own key.
Fraternally yours,
// ~~~ // . ?/(/ / / .-t-?~~~--
