WILBERFOSS PARISH COUNCIL - NEWS IN BRIEFParish Clerk - Sarah Wills, 2 Paddock Close, Wilberfoss, York, YO41 5LX

Tel: 01759 380123 email: [email protected] www.wilberfossparish.orgYour Parish Councillors are: Lesley Hoyer (Chair), David Smith (Vice Chair), Louise Ward

Chris Clegg, Norma Randall, Elaine Etherington, James Cann, Dave Appleton, Judy Abernethy

Firstly please note that the Council’s new email address [email protected] welcome Judy Abernethy as our newest co-opted member and will look forward toworking with Judy. Please help us to spread the work about our Friendship Lunches. They take place at ThePavilion once a month on the third Thursday of each month. A two course meal is providedat a cost of £8.50 and is open to anyone. For those of you who are of pensionable age, yourfirst meal is free! It’s a great opportunity to meet up with old friends and make new ones. The first two lunches have been attended by around 25 people but there’s plenty of spaceat the Pavilion for more. As we approach the warmer months the meals are likely to beserved on the patio overlooking the 7 acres of playing field. For more information pleasecontact Dougie on 07786 375256 or 01759 388941.Non-return valves have now been fitted to the outlets/inlets of Wilberfoss Beck. It is hopedthat this will alleviate the problem of flooding when the beck water rises. Ward CouncillorAndy Strangeway was integral to pushing East Riding of Yorkshire Council for these so wesay a huge thank you to Andy. You may have noticed that Beckside is sometimes littered with mole hills. This is becausesomeone is removing the mole traps installed by Acer Garden Services. If we want thevillage to look its best we need to have these in situ from time to time. Please do not attemptto remove these traps. They belong to Acer Garden Services are removal is effectively theft. If anyone has an issue with this, please contact us.Sadly we’ve experienced a number of incidents of anti-social behaviour, in particular wherebags of dog foul have been thrown from snickets in the village into neighbouring gardens. This has been reported to the Humberside Police and East Riding of Yorkshire Council DogWardens but we would ask that residents stay vigilant so that, if seen, we can provide theauthorities with a description of the culprit. There has never been a more important time to report and record accidents at Wilberfoss.ERYC have agreed to monitor the situation over the next 12 months. Please help us tocollect complete data by reporting any minor or major incidents to Wilberfoss Parish Clerk,Sarah Wills, on [email protected]. Thank you. We're delighted to let you know that we're supporting Wilberfoss Junior Football Club bydonating £300 from the Recycle Credits towards the cost of a set of goal posts for the minis.Time is running out to secure funding through the scheme as it finishes in July 2017 so,people of Wilberfoss, please continue to recycle your glass in the communal bottle banksbehind the tennis courts off Storking Lane so we can amass as much money as we canbefore the scheme closes. Help us to help you!
