1 Activity : Industrial Visit Of Austin Engineering Company.LTD .Type : Industrial VisitDate: 23rd October 2016Venue: Austin Engineering Company.LTD.

Austin Engineering Company, founded by five technocrats as a partnership firm in 1973, is anISO/TS 16949:2002 certified manufacturer of widest range of ball and roller bearings and itscomponents in India without any foreign collaboration. It is located near Junagadh in Gujarat State.Products of the company:-

Students visited all the department of the production of different types bearing in Austinengineering college. First of all we went in the RAW MATERIAL STORE, in this store all rawmaterials are classified for further operation and defected raw material is machined in machiningdepartment for job work and reused this raw material after surface turning and finishing.All raw material of the bearing is heated at definite temperature in induction furnace for HEATTREATMENT. Heat treatment is required for change internal structure of the material for goodstrength and hardness of the parts. INPROCESS MATERIAL STORE process plan was clarified inwhich they define type of machining process required for different parts and after that sent it to inthis different machining process. ASSEMBLY DEPARTMENT, in this department automaticpressing machine used for assembled outer race in inner race of the bearing with ball or roller atdefinite pressure.




QUALITY CONTROL DEPARTMENT, this department is more eminent department in all otherdepartment in company. In this department measure all part accuracy and quality if any defect inproduced bearing it will be rejected from the store and it will inspect by MEGNETIC TEST(nondestructive test) for finding defective area in parts and then take solution of the parts for furtherproduction and reduce the waste in the raw materials . Advance technology and fully automatic typeinstruments used in this company for better quality of the product. TUMBLING DEPARTMENT,for outer surface cleaning and smoothness of the bearing produced bearing is put in mixture ofprices stone and sand so that burr during manufacturing is removed. INVENTORY CONTROLDEPARTMENT is stored the fininsh product and raw materials. In this department maintain theymaintain stock of the materials and dispatch of products which is supply to the dealer and customer.

Department of mechanical engineering arranged 1 day visit of switch global expo 2016 at Vadodara.In this visit more than 80 students of mechanical enginnering were participated and 4 faculties werecordiante this expo visit. Expo is basically based on automation in industry as well latest inventionon electrical as well as electronics system.The main function to visit this expo is to get basic knowledge about industrial electronic systemwhich is used in different machine component as well as circuit design which is fitted in thedifferent machine component is used for heavy loaded machinery. 1 Activity : Teacher Training Workshop on Robotics and Embedded SystemsType : WorkshopDate: 18th & 19th November 2016Venue : Institute of Infrastructure, Technology, Research and Management Ahmedabad.

e-Yantra is a flagship project of MHRD through the National Mission on Education through ICT(NMEICT) to spread Embedded systems and Robotics education in colleges across India. E-YantraLab Setup Initiative (eLSI) is a holistic approach to:1.Impart theoretical and programming knowledge to teachers through workshops,2. Provide hands on experience to teachers through an online Task Based Training (TBT) and3. Help institute to set up their own Robotics labs. Government of India has assigned this project tobe implemented in India to IIT, Bombay and further IIT, Bombay has designated IITRAM as acoordinating center of this Project in the State of Gujarat.Workshop is based on Fire bird V Robotic Kit which is base ATmega2560 & ATmega8. Fire Bird Vwill help you get acquainted with the world of robotics and embedded systems. Thanks to itsinnovative architecture and adoption of the ‘Open Source Philosophy’ in its software and hardwaredesign, you will be able to create and contribute too, complex applications that run on this platform,helping you acquire expertise as you spend more time with them. Fire Bird V is designed by NEXRobotics and Embedded Real-Time Systems lab, CSE IIT Bombay.As a Universal Robotic Research Platform, Fire Bird V provides an excellent environment forexperimentation, algorithm development and testing. Fire Bird V is evolved from Fire Bird IV andFire Bird II which are being used in IIT Bombay to teach embedded systems and robotics. Itsmodular architecture allows you to control it using multiple processors such as 8051, AVR, PIC andARM7 etc. Modular sensor pods can be mounted on the platform as dictated by intendedapplications. Precision position encoders make it possible to have accurate position control. Theplatform can be upgraded to tank drive and Hexapod insect or any other desired form very easily. Itis powered by high performance rechargeable NiMH batteries. Glimpse of Workshop:

Conclusion:Firebird V is a most advance robot which is useful in research of areas of robotics, embeddedsystems, artificial intelligence and sensor networks etc. Workshop was full of curiosity, interactive& based on practical approach. Faculties were fully engaged during workshop. Content of theworkshop was full justified and according to recent trends. Coordination & support of e-Yantrateam (from IIT Bombay) & flow of workshop have made the workshop remarkable.

The purpose for this visit is to get familiar with industrial environment and to get practicalknowledge of various Synthetic Drugs process.Also in 3rd semester subject Organic Chemistry and Unit Process (chapter-9 Synthetic Drugs)require to knowledge about Synthesis of drugs so it is very much convenience to see all thepractical and data in real time work environment.With the help of this industrial visit student can understand the following points.

Basic concept of Synthesis of drugs.

Know about different type of raw material used for synthesis of drug and their handling.

Also know about basic unit operation use during synthesis of drug like heating by boiler,

cooling by cooling tower, centrifugation and drying.

Know about basic equipment used for analytical technique like chromatography (HPLC),

moisture content and melting point apparatus.

Judge the Scope and limitations of different Synthesis of drugs.Application of drug:Atorvastatin, marketed under the trade name Lipitor among others, is a member of the drug classknown as statins, which are used primarily as a lipid-lowering agent and for prevention of eventsassociated with cardiovascular diseasePregabalin, marketed under the brand name Lyrica among others, is a medication used to treatepilepsy, neuropathic pain, fibromyalgia, and generalized anxiety disorder.Phenylbutazone, often referred to as "bute", is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug for the short-term treatment of pain and fever in animals.Bumadizone Calcium Hemihydrate, which is the hemihydrate form of bumadizone calcium. Usedfor treatment of rheumatoid arthritis.Iron Hydroxide Polymaltose Complex (IPC), The meta-analysis of studies conducted in adultpatients with iron deficiency anemia, comparing IPC with ferrous sulfate in equivalent doses,showed that the two compounds attained similar hemoglobin levels, thus suggesting similarefficacy.Topiramate, is an anticonvulsant drug. In late 2012, topiramate was approved by the United StatesFood and Drug Administration in combination with phentermine for weight loss. The drug hadpreviously been used off-label for this purpose.

1) The Stander Operating Procedure (SOP): 2) Note the outside condition of the carrier and inspect for:3) Holes, cracks or broken panels (permitting the passage of other sources of contamination).4) Doors or hatches that do not close adequately.5) Refrigeration unit not working (when applicable).6) Open the door and inspect for:7) Temperature out of specification.8) Foreign / off-odors (e.g. chemical/solvent smell, fishy odor, rotten/spoilage odor).9) Insect / pest activity Molds.10) The condition of the shipment e.g. damaged or dirty packaging, exposed product.

Water damage.

11) Non-food items e.g. previously carried goods that are non-compatible with food.12) Contaminated product (when you have reason to believe that the product is contaminated).13) Government seal broken/missing (when applicable).14) Products from unapproved suppliers (check supplier list or check with purchaser).15) Any other material or contaminant which could effect finished, raw or packaging material16) If you suspect a problem like damage, contamination, filth or odors, notify your supervisor

and/or QA manger immediately. All materials shipped in damaged, dirty, or infested vehicleswill be rejected. Record the non-compliance on the Non-compliant product and / or TransportTruck rejection Form (See ‘Reasons to reject a shipment note’).

17) Unload the shipment and transfer to raw material staging area.18) Inform QA Designate of the shipment.19) Record the details of the received materials on the – Receiving Log Sheet.20) Ensure the number of items, product type, product code, and shelf life match the packing slip.

If the shelf life is less than 75%, inform the QA designate for further action, which may includerejecting the shipment or accepting based on shelf life and production requirements.

21) Material deemed unacceptable (out of specification) will be tagged as such with a “HOLD” signby the QA designate (SOP 04).

22) The product will be unloaded and staged in the receiving area. Identify ingredients deemed as“Allergens”, refer to Active Ingredients List if unsure if ingredient is an allergen and tag it witha RED sticker. Ingredients Tagged with RED stickers are deemed as Allergens and are stored ina segregated “Allergens Only” area.

23) Store ingredients, finished goods, packaging and other items off the floor and at least 18 inches




(50 cm) away from walls and ceilings. Maintain adequate space between the rows of storedproducts for cleaning, monitoring, and inspection. Store ingredients deemed as ‘Allergens”separately from non-allergen ingredients in controlled ‘Allergens Only’ locations.

24) Undertake proper rotation of all ingredients, packaging supplies and other materials on First In,

First Out basis.

25) Use clean pallets; use slip-sheets between pallets and bags of ingredients and between doublestacked pallets to protect pallets from damage by pallets.

Boilers:During the pharmaceutical process, sterilization, disinfection, drying, extraction directly affects thequality of medicine, so the needed equipment steam boiler is vital to production process. Mostproducts in the production process require a low pressure saturated steam, the steam pressure isgenerally below 1 Mpa and capacity is about 10 ton per hour or below. Therefore, a lower pressuresteam boiler is required in the process of pharmaceutical to ensure medicine quality and safety inproduction. The widely used steam boilers in pharmaceutical industry are coal fired steam boiler,gas fired steam boiler, oil fuel steam boiler.Coal fired steam boiler:As a kind of fuel exist in all over the world, coal is widely used as energy in almost all the industryand people’s life. In manufacturing industry, coal is often used as fuel for boilers to provide largequantity of steam or hot water for production process. Coal fired steam boiler is also a mainequipment in pharmaceutical factory. It is used in sterilization, disinfection, drying, extraction andother process. The common coal fired steam boiler type is chain grate type steam boiler, thecapacity of which can reaches to 30 ton per hour and can meet the different need of industry. Thisboiler has a larger chamber, the fuel can burn fully in the furnace on a suitable speed designed chaingrate, which can ensure the fully use of fuel energy. It can burn coal and biomass fuel such as ricehusk, wood pellet and other low cost fuel. It has the features of high power output, high combustionefficiency, stable operation, wide range of overload adjustment,etc.Gas fired steam boilerBesides the traveling grate type boiler that burn coal or rice husk, gas fired steam boiler or oil fuelsteam boiler are also used in pharmaceutical factory. It has also many advantages such as largecombustion chamber, strong load adaptability, safe and reliable operation, easy to install andmaintain, low maintenance rate, long service life, and so on. The gas oil fuel steam boiler is inpackaged style and easy to transport and install, which can burn natural gas, heavy oil, LPG, cokeoven gas,etc. The capacity of this boiler is 6~35t/h and under pressure1~2.5Mpa, temperature193~300 , which can also well meet the need of pharmaceutical factory.℃Reference standard: It is a standardized substance It is used as a measurement base for similar substances. Where theexact active substances of a new drug are not known. A reference standard provides a calibratedlevel of biological effects against which new preparations of the drug can be compared.

Climate chamber:

It allows investigation of the effects of a gradient in temperature and relative humidity on a porousstructure. It also used in measuring how much water it collects or releases.




CONCLUSION:From this visit, we got information and practical knowledge about the synthesis of drug. Studentsgot very clear idea about theoretical and practical of synthesis of drug, their quality analysis andpractical application. About 48 students were benefited.

2 Activity : One day workshop on Classical Dance TrainingType : Classical dance triningDate: 14th September 2016Venue : OM Engineering College,Junagadh.A one day workshop cum training programme of Classical Dance form KATHAK was held atthe premises of Om Engineering College on 14 th September 2016. In this workshop,more than 50 + Girl students of Degree and Diploma have actively participated inthis Workshop. Ms. Archana Narayanmurthy has trained the girl students very enthusiasticallyand also explained them the importance of Classical Dancing and its benefit.

Ms. Archana Narayanmurthy has appreciated this effort of Om Engineering College and advocatedthat this kind of education must be included with their academics.Summing Up:The most common feedback we got is the event was very joyful and we enjoyed a lot. In fact theyall are interested for many more events like this. They felt very enthusiastic and energetic byorganizing this kind of event. At the end seeing smiles on everyone's face they felt the hardwork done by them was worthy.

OM Engineering Campus is doing many activities like Vyom, Sports Week, Ganesh Sthapan, andSocial Activities every year for betterment and all over development of the students. Likewise wealso arranged a Navaratri Function for Degree, Diploma, B.Sc., OCRI students and staff membersto make themenjoy with NavaratrOM – 2016 on 15/10/2016 at OM Engineering College, Junagadh.

Prize Distribution:Asst. Prof. R. D. Gujarati started his sppech about the function. Divyabhaskar Newspaper Team is celebrating Jay Ho Junagadh Mukti Mahostav from January2016. As a part of these activities they arranged a Mukti Yatra on 15 th October, 2016 as Junagadhwas been independent from Foreign Rulers. Om college of Science Student has participated in thisMukti Yatra and made a float for this day. The students were instructed to make a float about the“Aarzi Hakumat” , Ratubhai Adani, Amarapur Village on tractor.




Conclusion:Students from OM College of science have actively particiapted in this “ Jay ho Junagadh – MuktiYatra “ on 15 th October, 2016. Some of students played different role of Aarzi Hakumat. Finallygot 9 th Rank amongs more than 60 floats. The students Enjoyed this Mukti Mahotsav event.




5 Activity : Tree Plantation in respect to Celebration of 70th Independence DayType : Tree Plantation ProgramDate: 11th August 2016Venue : Om Engineering College,Junagadh.

Tree Plantation programme was held in our school on 11 th August 2016 during 8 : 00 to 10 : 00 pmto celebrate the zest of 70 th year of freedom The students of various Branches and semestershave actively participated in the programme. Director, Principal, teachers and students wentto plant sapling in our college premises.




Our teachers had also explained about the trees and the importance of tree plantation.Even our help staff also taught us how to plant them and then they watered theplants. The helpers told us different thing about the plant, their uses. Then they are taken to the openarea in college premises to plant the saplings.

Summing Up:The most common feedback we got is the event was very joyful and we enjoyed a lot. In fact theyall are interested for many more events like this. They felt very enthusiastic and energetic byorganizing this kind of event. At the end seeing smiles on everyone's face they felt the hardwork done by them was worthy.
