• Saturday June 2nd, the Emerging Leader Symposium at Santa Barbara City College.
The district is asking that each Rotary club send one member over 45 and one under 45. Please email Catherine [email protected] if you are interested in attending.
• Our first BBQ is coming up on May 15th! We were able to reserve Goleta Beach May • through September on the 3rd Tuesday of the month. Jaime and Mike will be our cooks
for the evening. Please email Stacy Alvarez if you are able to help with setup and/or cleanup [email protected].
• “Sips & Nibs” a benefit to support Food From the Heart this Thursday March, 29th from
5-7pm at Margerum, Happy Canyon, and Grassini Tasting Rooms between Anacapa & State St in the historic El Paseo Courtyard. Cost is $50 per person and includes: Wine tasting from all three rooms, Appetizers by Wine Cask & C’est Cheese, Aaron Casele Catering, Chocolate & Desserts. 10% off wine purchased by the case. • Martin Senn is heading up a committee that will make recommendations to the board
for where this year’s raised funds will go. 10 members have signed up to be on the committee. If you have a recommendation for a recipient let Martin Senn know [email protected].
• 4th of July Raffle tickets are now available. If you have a nonprofit that would like to sell
tickets please send their contact info to Fran [email protected]. Nonproftis keep half the proceeds of the tickets they sell. Looking for someone to help Marty of Sponsorship below $1000 we need someone fast!! Melissa Nelson will be helping Stacy with volunteers yay! Next Fireworks meeting is April 5th at the Camino Real Marketplace conference room between BevMo and Keypoint Credit Union. Come by, there’s free beer, wine, and food!
3.0 Avenues of Service Community Service Hearts Therapeutic is having their Annual Student Horse Show on Saturday April 21st. They need help with setup between 9am – 3pm (come by at any time and help for as long as you can) Scholarship Our club funded $5,500 toward the Santa Barbara scholarship foundation this year. In addition John Illgen contributed $520 toward the Scholarship Foundation as well.

4.0 Rotary Minute No Rotary Minute this week. 5.0 Pay and Tell
• Carol gave $50 for her work trip to Aruba. Carol loves to scuba dive and did 6 dives on the trip.
• Jay gave $60 for his granddaughter • Stan gave $20 for his transition to golfing again after 25 years. Took first golf lesson. Stan
is learning to transition to a senior citizen. • Catherine gave $25 for 25 years on Klite, will be having a fundraiser. Congrats
Catherine and Gary! 6.0 PROGRAM / GUEST SPEAKER Tonight’s guest speaker is former mayor Helene Schneider. She shared with us her work at her new job with the US Interagency Council on Homelessness. She gave a great talk about the difficulties and problems with solving the homeless crisis and shared with the club some key points she learned during her term as mayor. 8 Things that former mayor Helene Schneider learned that are applicable to everyone:
1) Show up 2) Speak up 3) Be true to yourself 4) Find common ground when you can but stand your ground when you must 5) Don’t let the bastards get you down 6) Don’t let the perfect get in the way of the good 7) Don’t believe everything you read on the internet 8) Have fun along the way
