The word environment encompasses all of God's beautiful and awesome works. The environment is His creation, a precious and holy resource with which He entrusted all humans the loving care and wise use of. God asked all humans to be stewards of the environment in Genesis 1:28, when He said to Adam and Eve, "Be fruitful and increase in number, fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground." On the weekend, my family and I had the opportunity to roll around and have snow fights at Shooters Hill. Shooters Hill is 20 minutes just outside Oberon. This week I had the privilege to read Psalm 65 for devotions to staff. I thought verses 9-13 are relevant to the day spent enjoying the white powder. You care for the land and water it; you enrich it abundantly. The streams of God are filled with water to provide the people with grain, for so you have ordained it. You drench its furrows and level its ridges; you soften it with showers and bless its crops. You crown the year with your bounty, and your carts overflow with abundance. The grasslands of the wilderness overflow; the hills are clothed with gladness. The meadows are covered with flocks and the valleys are mantled with grain; they shout for joy and sing. Psalm 65:9-13 God has provided us with such a beautiful earth. He sends the rain to water it and gives it the ability to grow a diversity of plants to feed us. However, it is not just a utilitarian land; rather it is a land filled with awesome and wonderous beauty as well. Just imagine what it would be like without the sound of the birds or without the trees and flowers that dress the land. Even in winter, the whiteness of the snow provides a stunning display of God’s beautiful handiwork. I would like you to take some time in your busy to day enjoy what God has provided for us. Not forgetting the most important part, reflecting on what God did in sending His one and only son Jesus to be our saviour, so we can be heirs of His family. All creation points to Him and glorifies His name. How blessed we are to experience what God has done for us. Marijke Heslop, Secondary Teacher

Thursday 21 June 2018 Dear Parents & Friends of Kuyper,

Being Thankful for our Beautiful Earth and Saviour Our environment is one of the greatest examples we have of God's power.

Psalm 65:9-13

God has provided us with such a beautiful earth.

Reminders Kuyper Cultural Day raised $607 to donate to the people of Vanuatu. Thank you everyone for joining in! Entries for the Colouring part of the Kuyper Colouring & Design competition were sent to classrooms today. We look forward to seeing all your beautiful sheets by Friday 6 July (last day of term). Winning entries will be published in the Newsletter next term. We are looking for some donations for our scarecrows: they need some suitable “farming” outfits. Contact the Office if you can help.

As we near the End of Term 2, we remind all families that half of the school fees for 2018 should be paid. Please contact Tina in the Office Monday—Thursday if you need to discuss. If you are on SchoolEasyPay, relax! You are up to date. Would anyone be able to lend the school a large enclosed trailer for the band tour to Orange Christian School 16—18 August? At the end of this term, Mid-Year Academic Reports will be sent home with students. Due to some staff changes in Primary, Parent/Teacher Interviews will be held Thursday 20 September and Tuesday 25 September. You are always welcome to arrange an individual interview with staff at any time of the year if you feel the need. If you are unsure who to speak to, contact the Office.

Prayer & Praise Give thanks for cool weather, warm buildings, and the

changing seasons. Continue to pray for the Miller family and for Josh.

Pray for strength, peace, healing and encouragement. Pray for Vanuatu; the country and its people. Pray for

our students, staff and parents as they plan and prepare to visit and support the community.

Pray for parents and students in their relationships with those around them and each other. Pray that we will all be Wise, Happy, Obedient and Kind, always.

Did you receive your

Mission Impossible?

(Sorry about the Confetti…) As parents, we work hard for our kids, teaching and mentoring them about what is safe, what is dangerous, what is wise and what is foolish. We hope that our efforts while they live with us will set them up for life on their own. But how do you teach something which you are not familiar with, that changes constantly and that you are learning yourself? Can you answer these questions confidently? Who is your child communicating with online? What are they looking at? What do they know that I don’t? How do I work with my teen and their smart phone? What can I do to keep my child safe on-line? What and how can I teach them so they act wisely and stay safe in the digital world? Come to our E-Safety Seminar to find out!

Tuesday 26 June, 7:30—9pm, in the Library This is a wonderful opportunity to hear from Sarah Van Bentum, the Sydney Manager for BaptistCare’s Counselling and Family Services. Staff will be hearing from Sarah during their staff meeting too. Let’s learn and join together in raising, protecting and mentoring our kids. If you have any questions or concerns, please call Ian on 4573 2999. If you require child minding during the seminar, please email [email protected] with the number and age range of kids.

Sarah Van Bentum As part of her role, Sarah manages several programs and services including Counselling and Group Work in Domestic & Family Violence and Men’s Behavioural Change; Financial Counselling and Gambling Help, Emergency Relief and No-Interest Loans and Community Education & Training. Additionally, Sarah works as a counsellor in private practice at the Counselling Hub in Kellyville where she works with individual clients, families and couples. Prior to her work in community services, Sarah worked in Secondary Education for over 10 years, followed by a decade in small business. Sarah has a Master’s Degree in Counselling and a Bachelor Degree in Education, Humanities. In her work, Sarah draws from a dynamic tool kit of personal life experience, formal education and on the job training and practice.

Saturday 30 June, 5-9pm

Join us for a fun night of food, fire, family and friendship as we light up the bonfire at the back of the top oval. Bring a pocket full of gold coins for hot food and drink, and a generous spirit for warm fellowship around the fire. All proceeds from the night will go towards subsidising the cost of our Concert & Performance Bands’ attendance at the Christian Education National (CEN) Music Festival in August. We still need volunteers to assist with the BBQ, and the sale of food and drink. If you can help please respond via this link http://www.volunteersignup.org/7RMB3 Also, if you can donate cakes or sweets for the dessert stall, please contact Heidi Zaayman at [email protected] or 0478 036 949.

Japanese Student Visit 18—22 August 2018 It’s that time of year and we are looking for Kuyper families to host our Japanese visitors. The students are aged between 14 & 16 and will be at Kuyper from 18—22 August . We already have 6 families who have volunteered to host students, and now need 7 more. We are looking for families to host 1 student each. You can specify whether you would prefer to host a boy or a girl. You would need to provide your student with a bed, all meals, and transport. They can share a room with your child/children. For hosting, your family will be paid $50 per night. If you have any questions, or to apply to host, contact Es Stewart in the Office or email [email protected]
