Dear Respected Parents: Assalamu alaikum and welcome to our
March 2016 Newsletter.

Our Annual fundraising
event will be held at
the Victoria Suite on
Sunday May 1st
2016. To maximise our
fundraising potential,
we are requesting all
parents to kindly sup-
port the event through
attendance and by do-
nating food, money,
sponsoring an event or
volunteering your time.
The report
can be read
in full on the school website but
some noteworthy comments from the inspectors include:
• Pupils personal development and welfare are OUT-
STANDING.
• Pupils reach standards which are consistently at or
ABOVE other pupils nationally in Mathematics and Eng-
lish.
• Pupils social, moral, spiritual and cultural development
is EXCELLENT.
• The head teacher is PASSIONATE about school im-
provement and puts very effective strategies in place.
Other key judgements were that the parents are confident
that the children are happy and safe and the school is helping
them become good British Muslims, that the teachers build
excellent relationships with their pupils and are skilled at
meeting the differing needs of the pupils.
The report encapsulates the high quality and hard work of
pupils, staff, Governors and parents who are working to-
gether as one big ‘family’ and shows that with passion, dedi-
cation and determination we will continue to take the school
from strength to strength.
Well done to all involved with Paradise and Jazakallah to eve-
ryone for their efforts.
Paradise Fundraiser
On January 26-28 the school welcomed three of Her Majesty’s
Inspectors (one observing the inspection team) to carry out an
inspection. During the rigorous inspection, the inspectors ob-
served lessons, spoke to pupils, parents, staff, and Governors;
as well as looking at a wide range of evidences including Data.
A report from Ofsted has now been published and we are all
extremely pleased to have been awarded an overall grading of
“GOOD”.
The new inspection framework, which has been enforced since
September 2015, has seen the bar being significantly raised for
independent schools. Out of 106 independent faith schools
whose reports have been published since September 2015,
only 16% of schools have achieved a grading of ‘Good’ or bet-
ter, with all others either receiving ‘requires improvement’,
‘inadequate’ or ‘standards not met’.
It is an excellent achievement to be recognised for the high
quality provision and opportunities given to our pupils in help-
ing them to become well rounded Muslim adults of the future.
The school is already working towards the few recommenda-
tions outlined to ensure that the school can quickly achieve
‘outstanding’.
OFSTED - EXCELLENT ACHIEVEMENT BY PARADISE!
A delegation from Oman came to the UK in 2015 to view Muslim educational
establishments. They travelled the country and visited many institutions in-
cluding Paradise Primary School. The guests identified Paradise as having the best
systems and practices in place and wanted to adopt these for their own school.
Shaikh Nassar, who is the school proprietor and governing body chair, was most im-
pressed with the way Paradise places equal importance on education and deen and
so requested a visit to inspire and advise his team.
A team from Paradise (the Head teacher and 3 governors) were invited to visit Oman
during February half term. The team spent a number of days supporting Al Azaiba Pri-
vate School in Muscat introducing new ways to improve their teaching and learning as
well as other areas including safeguarding, health & safety, premises and risk assessments.
During the visit leaders from other institutions in Muscat also attended the training sessions and spent
time learning from our team.
It was both a pleasure and an experience to meet and work with the staff and children at Al Azaiba and
to make strong links with them. IA Paradise will continue to support them in the future.

The cross curricular topic last term was ‘You
are what you eat’ so there
were various food related
activities taking place across
school.
Pupils were able to release their inner creativity
by making their own ‘eat well’ plates which high-
lighted the importance of eating a balanced diet.
They also made their own healthy sandwiches; the highlight being
the end result which they were able to eat!
Other pupils were able to show their excellent debating skills by
participating in a debate about the controversial topic of whether
junk food should be allowed at school!
The children learnt about the various dietary requirements in dif-
ferent religions and came up with excellent ideas for different
meal plans. The children also learnt about Sunnah foods that
that Our Prophet (SAW) loved, and the benefits of eating such
foods.. The children also had the opportunity to create their own
recipe using Sunnah foods. Others also made their own poem or
rap about why it is important to love the
Sunnah. Lastly, children were given the
opportunity to taste some of these Sunnah
foods which included: olives, cucumber,
pomegranate and dates. The children im-
mensely enjoyed it and as one of the pupils
said, ‘we absolutely loved tasting the
foods!’
Pupils also explored the benefits of physical
exercise and partook in some outdoor
physical activities. They checked their pulse
rates before and after, and learnt the rea-
sons as to why the pulse rates fluctuate. In
addition, the children also studied the lack of provisions many
children face worldwide due to living in a third world country and
appreciated everything they have! Overall it was a fun day filled
with role play performances, debates, poster designing, exercis-
ing, taster sessions and much more!
Ever wonder what life was like in the past? On
this cross curricular day, the topic was ‘Britain
through the decades’ which allowed children to
explore the past. The children went through a
journey of time, transporting all the way back to
the 1940’s and looked at one of the most signifi-
cant events in Britain; World War 2. They learnt
about the many modern inventions developed
after the war which we use today, such as computers, microwave
ovens and even the Jeep car.
Students then travelled to the 1950’s, learning
about the coronation of the Queen. They
played various different games that were popu-
lar in this time period such as hopscotch,
snakes and ladders and skipping and were
amazed that these still exist to this day! The children had a Hula
Hoop contest to see how long they could Hula Hoop.
Next was the 1960’s where the children discovered the first man
on the moon and made their own rockets. They also learnt about
England hosting and winning their first World Cup, much to the
delight of the football fans in the class.
Students then travelled along to the 1970’s and looked at the in-
vention of the first walkman, popular culture and fashion in Brit-
ain. The children were immersed in various activities which in-
cluded being crowned king or queen for the day as they created
their very own silver jubilee medal (a ceremony that celebrated
Queen Elizabeth IIs reign for 25 years). The day ended with a fun
game of monopoly to celebrate the invention of monopoly in
1976.
In the 1980’s the children especially enjoyed learning about
trends and the latest technology of the time, such as the Pac-Man
games console, He-man, Guess who; many of which
are still played today. Attempting to solve the Rubik’s
cube proved to be most challenging for the pupils!
Children were keen to learn about the various tech-
nological advances through the 1990’s and enjoyed
designing their own mobiles! Overall the children had
a fantastic day travelling through the years.
Buddying Young Writers… As part of World Book day, the children
had an opportunity to stimulate their
creative writing talents by entering in a
writing competition. The children were
very enthusiastic and Maashaa’Allah
well done to the following winners who
shared their writing talents in a presen-
tation assembly.
Mohammed Amaan Irfan (Yr1),
Nusayba Patel (Yr2), Eesha Ismail
(Yr3), Umamah Sayed (Yr4), Saarah
Adam (Yr5), Habeebah Waza (Yr6)
It was a hard decision to single out the
winners as there were some excep-
tional pieces of writing demonstrating
great imagination and creativity so well
done to all the participants!
CROSS CURRICULAR DAYS
Read for my school To enhance the reading culture
in school and encourage life-long
reading, KS2 children have been
signed up to Read For My School
which is a national reading com-
petition designed to get the pu-
pils excited about reading and
challenge them to read as many
books as they can between 19th
January and 20th March. As well
as reading their own books off-
line, pupils have access to books
from an online library of over
150 titles.
Read for my School record
shows that 2064 books have
been read by Paradise pupils so
well done to all and keep up the
reading!
Drop Everything and Read…. To spark and develop the love, excite-
ment and enthusiasm of reading, eve-
ryone at Paradise participated in cele-
brating World Book Day, a worldwide
celebration of books and reading,
marked in over 100 countries all over the world.
At 9:45am all pupils, Teachers, Senior Management
Team and Head Teacher dropped everything and as-
sembled in the hall to read their favourite book in si-
lence for 30 minutes. It was very
heartening to see everyone en-
grossed in reading whereby the
only noise that reverberated
around the hall was the turning of
pages! It was an enjoyable and in-
spirational experience for all!

World Maths Day World Maths Day World Maths Day World Maths Day For world Maths day, year 2
had to invent their own Maths game. Children used their
imagination and worked really well in teams, to think
and create their own game. After that, they explained
their game to the rest of the class and were given the
opportunity to play each other’s game.
Key stage 2 children entered a World Maths Day Art
Competition using squares and triangles to create patterns and pictures.
Year 4 did exceptionally well as their topic this term was Mosaics and
had a good understanding of how Maths geometric skills can be used to
create patterns. Congratulations to the 3 winners… Raiyyan Patel (Yr 4),
Merjem Selman (Yr 4) and Khadija Umarji (Yr 6). Well done to the run-
ners up Fatimah Farooq and Aisha Polli and all the children who entered!
Put on your Viking helmets as we
take a journey through the lives
of the Vicious Vikings!
In History Year 4’s have been learn-
ing about the fierce warriors known
as the Vikings. They were able to bring their
learning to life when they embarked on an exciting trip to Jorvik
in York, the very place where the Vikings once ruled.
In the Barley Hall they were greeted and entertained by two
hosts dressed as Vikings. Children enjoyed travelling back 2000
years and being immersed into the lives of Vikings and how they
lived their lives.
At Jorvik dig, the children had great fun becoming archaeolo-
gists; they were all ‘hands on’ digging for exciting artefacts and
made some discoveries of fascinating artefacts that were over
2000 years old!
Year 2 visited
Tropical World
in Leeds to help support the learning of their
Plants topic in Science, and also aid learning in art
and computing. The children explored tropical
habitats and discovered exciting new places
from around the world. It was an enjoyable day
filled with looking at alien landscapes and exotic
plant life, experiencing life in the jungle and
the desert and coming face to face with some
of the amazing animals that live in them; including crocodiles, but-
terflies, bats, lemurs, snakes, rare bird species and the gorgeous
meerkat family! The children had a great time looking at all the
wonderful creations of our Almighty!
Year 3’s had an enthralling time
learning about the human body
and exploring the ‘All about me’ section at Eureka
Museum. They enjoyed carrying out the fun ac-
tivities such as measuring their height and
weight and filling out their passports. They were fascinated with
the different things they learnt about their bodies and appreci-
ated how wonderful and complex our Almighty has created us all!
In History Year 6 have
been learning about
Crime and Punishment in
Britain and each era was
explored starting from Ro-
mans to the Modern times.
It was fascinating to learn
how the punishments have evolved over
time. Year 6 visited Ripon Museum to extend their
knowledge on crime during the Victorian pe-
riod. They had fun re-enacting a courtroom scene
and the host was very impressed with the children’s
drama skills! Well done! This was an enjoyable and
insightful topic for the year 6 and it also served as a
reminder that ‘our actions have consequences’!
Year 5’s spent an interesting day at Pon-
tefract ‘fired art and design studio’ re-
leasing their imaginative creativeness.
They learnt the skills of moulding clay
into flowers, butterflies and fruits and created some
unique and awesome clay plaques. The children en-
joyed painting their personalised plaques which were
then fired and given to them to take home. It was a
truly enjoyable pottery experience for all!
BRITISH SCIENCE WEEK
As part of British Science
Week, children from Nurs-
ery to Year 6 took part in
activities to expand their
understanding of science which surrounds us and the im-
portance of it. Some of these activities included a volcanic
eruption, dyed flowers experiment, milk and washing up
liquid experiment, water resistance, micro-
organisms and much more! Children were
very enthusiastic as they appreciated the
science which affects us in our daily lives.
OAKWELL HALL In History,
Year 1’s have been learning about
changes in our daily lives. The
children visited Oakwell Hall to
understand what life was like in
Tudor and Victorian times. Children
carried out a number of activities
which entailed writing with a quill,
dressing up, looking at household
items and playing spillikins.
Children also invited their grand-
parents to talk about their child-
hood and compare it to theirs. They
enjoyed asking questions and listen-
ing to stories about what life was
like 40 years ago.

PARENT ASSEMBLIES - Jazakallah to Year 2 and 5
Parents who attended their child’s class assembly.
Well done to the children for their outstanding per-
formance.
PARENT FORUM - Jazakallah to all Parents who at-
tended the Parents Forum Meetings.
We would like to thank Michael Berry from Kirklees road
safety who presented an assembly for KS1 children and
parents about the importance of staying safe on the
road and in car safety (importance of not overcrowding
vehicles and the importance of seat belts). Thank you to
all the Year 1 and 2 parent’s as well for attending.
CRICKET Year 5 have enjoyed a few
lessons of cricket coach-
ing by a specialist coach.
They enjoyed learning
various tactics and enjoyed being challenged
by the coach under timed conditions. He
taught various skills over three lessons in-
cluding, bowling, fielding and batting. They
enjoyed learning various tactics.
Swimming - As part of P.E. year 3 have been
going to Batley sports centre for swimming lessons,
which they have thoroughly enjoyed. The instruc-
tors at the centre have been teaching the children
different techniques to swim in the pool. The chil-
dren have made really good progress and some are
even confident enough to swim independently.
Bikeability A level
2 on-road Bikeability
cycle course was run
at the school for pu-
pils in Year 6.During
the first session of
the course, the children carried out cycle
checks and worked on riding skills exercises
in the playground. Once a required standard
of cycle control was achieved, the children
moved onto level 2 of the training course and
were challenged to practice their skills onto
the main road. They learnt basic manoeuvres
at local road junctions; including left and
right hand turns and over taking parked vehi-
cles. It was an exciting and excellent oppor-
tunity for the year 6 to gain a real cycle ex-
perience and build their confidence by mas-
tering new cycling skills. The Year 6 pupils
were awarded with a certificate and a Level
2 badge for their proficiency. Well done!
As part of the Spring and growing
theme, Reception and Nursery
children have been looking at plants, spring animals, growth and
change. The children have enjoyed doing the vari-
ous spring activities, including making bird feeders
which they hung around the school playground and
watching stealthily for the birds to feed from them.
The children have also planted beanstalks which they water
every day, talking about the changes as the plant grows.
Nursery children have started a butterfly project; and are fasci-
nated to see the caterpillars growing big every
day and are excitedly waiting for the transforma-
tion into beautiful butterflies!
Children have especially loved the chick
project; learning the process of hatching
chicks in an incubator. The children were
enthralled to see one of chicks hatch and
are waiting eagerly for the other new
arrivals!
Gardening club Little Green Fingers…
After school gardening club has
been an invigorating experience for
the children where they have en-
joyed adding greenery to a small area of
the playground. They have taken great pride in trans-
forming the gardening patch into a vibrancy of colours
by planting different flowers. The children have also
planted potatoes and are waiting in anticipation to see them grow!
Sports Festival - On Tuesday 23rd Febru-
ary some children from ks1 went to Bat-
ley Sports Centre to take part in fun
games and activities. They had a great
afternoon meeting different schools from
the area and trying out new equipment and
activities which in turn helped them to de-
velop their love for PE and Sports and gain confidence.
