Join Us This AdventOur Bishop urges all of us to participate in small-group study this Advent. A Steward’s Way, which consists of four ses-sions based on the Joy of the Gospel, (Pope Francis’ apostolic exhortation), reflects on how our faith provides a foundation of gratitude from which come deep joy and hope for our lives, our families, our communities and our world. If you would like to join a small group, please sign the sheet on the bulletin board in the gathering area under the green Adult Faith Formation sign. Contact Greg Stratman at [email protected] for more information
Volunteers sought for the Art and Environment GroupThe Art and Environment Group seeks adults, college students, and teens preparing for confirmation to assist with liturgical decoration of the Church. Volunteers give the gifts of time and talent for the enhancement of the liturgy and so for the glory of God. They care for and arrange the plants/flow-ers, fabrics, linens and candles seen at Mass. Help is always needed in preparation for special feast days and solemnities, but also on a smaller scale throughout the year. If you enjoy plant/flower care, like to iron or sew, or are just willing to carry items up and down stairs and assist with set-up and take down, please consider joining. A schedule for Advent and Christmas is now available. For more information, contact Linda Virant at [email protected] or call and leave a message at (573)201-1099.

You are invited to help the Rolla community ring in the Christmas season!
Friday, December 6th from 5:30 - 10:00 p.m.
Lichternacht 'Light the Night' has become a much anticipated local event for area families. Lichternacht marks the official beginning of the Christmas season in Rolla. Downtown businesses will be open for extended hours and feature perfor-mances by musicians, actors, and story tellers. Children can collect punches in their 'tannebaum' cards and redeem the card for a free s'mores kit that can be prepared around the fire pit. A highlight of the evening is the lighting of the community Christmas tree at 7:00 p.m. in Library plaza. Following the tree lighting there will be a polka party for the entire family under the tents on 7th street. Music will be provided by the World's Finest Rolla German Band and polka lessons will be given by Alicia Smith. Our own Fr. Greg Meystrik will be displaying his collection of nativity scenes from around the world at Trips and More Travel Agency on 8th street. Doris Backes-Delp will be singing at the 3 Sisters Consignment Shop on Pine Street, and many of our parish school children will be singing at the tree lighting.
Saturday, December 7th post parade - 9:00 p.m.
The Christkindl Markt is a seasonal market that draws heavily on the style and traditions of the celebration in Rolla's sister city, Sondershausen, Germany. The event begins after the Christmas parade in the tents on 7th Street and in the parking lot of The Public House Brewing Company on Rolla Street. The event features traditional American and German music, craft vendors, and German food. The event closes with the After Glow party in the same location.
