CURRENT MEMBERSHIP STATISTICS:The membership number for lodge year 2015-16 to date are as follows:TOTAL MEMBERSHIP (4/1/15) = 702Added = 34Dropped = 9 Deaths = 12Delinquents = 51Currant Applications = 14Current Total Membership = 676Difference = -24

MEMBERSHIPWe had a great month of November resulting with 13 new members initiated, affiliated, or reinstated. If we are to attain a membership gain again this year, we will need to cover the above -24, plus we will lose another 4 members, at the current pace, to death, and approximately 10 will transfer dimit and/or absolute dimit when the dues notices go out in January. Therefore we will need 38 new applications during the remaining 4 months of this lodge year to break even. 38 new applications in 4 months is a big mountain to climb, however attainable. One way to help is by reducing our delinquent list of 51. In reviewing District Deputy Gallant’s audit report, I see that we have assigned the Eustis PER Association, which is 41 members strong, to Chair our Membership Management team, a chairman of which has been lacking all year to date. This is great news and I commend these gentlemen for stepping up and undertaking such a worthy endeavor. I look forward to meeting and working with my PER Brothers in this all out effort to attain another membership gain this year. For everyone’s information, the 51 member lapsation list, complete with home addresses, phone numbers, and e-mail addresses is posted on the membership bulletin board in the hallway, and a list of their names in this issue of the bulletin.

BULLETIN DELIVERY

During the last few months we have been receiving many complaints about the bulletin being delivered late, that is, after the first of the month. The complaints come from those receiving their bulletins via postal delivery. The printer delivers the copy to us via e-mail between 3 to 5 days prior to the first of the month. The bulletin is then sent to all the e-mail recipients who receive their copy around the first of the month and have few complaints. The postal copies are hand delivered by the printer to Integrity Mail for postal processing about the same day that they deliver our copy to us. Integrity then folds, seals, addresses, sorts by zip code, prepares the postal report, and delivers the bulletins via truck to the Postal Service Center in Lake Mary. Integrity is a very efficient operation and completes the processing in 3 to 4 days upon receipt from the printer. The Post Office then sends the bulletins to the proper zip code for delivery. The postal copies could arrive at their destination as late as the tenth of the month. Therefore, if you do not want to receive your bulletin by e-mail, please wait until after the tenth of the month to start calling the lodge looking for tardy bulletins.

State President’s MessageMy Fellow Elks,

This marks my final message to you for insertion in your respective monthlylodge bulletins. I wish to thank all those lodges across the state that chose toplace the monthly article in your bulletins. Hopefully this benefited your members. My goal was to enhance communication from your State President to themembership and I trust that has been accomplished to some degree.

I have repeatedly stated the sense of honor and privilege felt to have served inthis capacity. Julia and I will have many fond memories of the cordiality andfriendliness we have received while traveling and visiting in your lodges and districts.By virtue of our travels to every district, visits to 81 lodges, some of them morethan once, and attendance at over 40 events, we have become further abundantlyaware that Florida Elks are indeed the “BPOE” (BEST PEOPLE ON EARTH!).

Our FSEA continues to have many pressing issues to address. Decliningmembership is still prevalent even though it appears we have lessened the numberof non-renewals. Our donations and support for all the charitable activities inwhich the state association and local lodges are engaged is still strong, but wemust continue to work hard to sustain that effort. I am tremendously encouragedand pleased with the numerous programs that so many dedicated Florida Elksare promoting.

As we encounter inevitable problems, I am confident we in this organizationhave the talent and ability to overcome whatever may stress us at a given time. The FSEA did not establish a most charitable Children’s Therapy Service, awonderful Youth Camp, Veteran’s Services, Hope and Van Duren Scholarships, and other numerous programs to see it all cease to exist because of lack ofattention.

I will conclude with this thought. As the nation approached the end of WorldWar II in 1945, then President Franklin D. Roosevelt wrote in a speech never tobe delivered because of his sudden death these words: “The only limit to ourrealization of tomorrow will be our doubts of today. Let us move forward withstrong and active faith.”

Thank you again for this privilege. It has been a wonderful journey for Julia andme.May God Richly Bless all you in our family of Florida Elks.Fraternally,James E. HurstFSEA President, 2010-2011

State President’s Message

My Fellow Elks,

This marks my final message to you for insertion in your respective monthly

lodge bulletins. I wish to thank all those lodges across the state that chose to

place the monthly article in your bulletins. Hopefully this benefited your members.

My goal was to enhance communication from your State President to the

membership and I trust that has been accomplished to some degree.

I have repeatedly stated the sense of honor and privilege felt to have served in

this capacity. Julia and I will have many fond memories of the cordiality and

friendliness we have received while traveling and visiting in your lodges and districts.

By virtue of our travels to every district, visits to 81 lodges, some of them more

than once, and attendance at over 40 events, we have become further abundantly

aware that Florida Elks are indeed the “BPOE” (BEST PEOPLE ON EARTH!).

Our FSEA continues to have many pressing issues to address. Declining

membership is still prevalent even though it appears we have lessened the number

of non-renewals. Our donations and support for all the charitable activities in

which the state association and local lodges are engaged is still strong, but we

must continue to work hard to sustain that effort. I am tremendously encouraged

and pleased with the numerous programs that so many dedicated Florida Elks

are promoting.

As we encounter inevitable problems, I am confident we in this organization

have the talent and ability to overcome whatever may stress us at a given time.

The FSEA did not establish a most charitable Children’s Therapy Service, a

wonderful Youth Camp, Veteran’s Services, Hope and Van Duren Scholarships,

and other numerous programs to see it all cease to exist because of lack of

attention.I will conclude with this thought. As the nation approached the end of World

War II in 1945, then President Franklin D. Roosevelt wrote in a speech never to

be delivered because of his sudden death these words: “The only limit to our

realization of tomorrow will be our doubts of today. Let us move forward with

strong and active faith.”

Thank you again for this privilege. It has been a wonderful journey for Julia and

me.May God Richly Bless all you in our family of Florida Elks.

Fraternally,

James E. Hurst
