DECEMBER 2015
THE CHRONICLEGreetings members Well another month is gone and I am still, as someone said, on my soap box. November was a busy month once again at our lodge. The Ways and Means had a successful event with Soup Night and was enjoyed by all those who attended. . The Special Children’s breakfast is back! Every month these hard working members come out and do a great job so please come out and support their efforts. Our Ladies Auxiliary Craft Fair was yet another great success. Great job by the Auxiliary as they always do. Also, Thank you to Walt Papp and his crew for a fun night of live music.Sharlene and I attended the Fall Conference in Long Branch during Novem- ber. The message that we were told to bring back to our lodge is Member- ship and Community involvement. Many thanks to the membership for giv- ing me the privilege of attending and to represent the best Lodge in the State.

A special Thank You to Dave Rooney and his crew of workers that put to- gether the food baskets. Dave and the crew did 30 food baskets for families that would not have had a Thanksgiving Day Dinner. To me, as well as the membership of the lodge, making a family’s day a little brighter has to make our hearts warm. As Elks we extended our kindness and friendship to those in need. Dave will be back in a few weeks giving out the Christmas baskets keeping the giving of Christ- mas in our Lodge and our hearts.December is going to be a very busy month, so please check the bulletin for the upcoming events. On Sunday December 20, at 5:00 pm our lodge will be hosting a Living Nativity after the Children’s Christ- mas Party. This is a community event. Please, spread the word. Come out and bring friends, cowork- ers, and family. Let’s get Bordentown Township and City out to our Lodge for this new event.I close with Sharlene and I wishing a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Safe New Year to all the mem- bers and their families.
I would like to share a Christmas wish that I have wished for so many years.
THAT ALL the ARMIES in the WORLD will lay there WEAPONS down and let THERE BE PEACE ON EARTH AND GOOD WILL TO ALL.

To do this we need information well before an event. To help we created a form that is on the bulletin boards, in the bar and it can be emailed to anyone.*ANY FORMAT WITH THIS INFORMATION WILLWORK*. The form shows you what information we need. For ease on the committees it does not need to be this exact form, if the committee would prefer to give me a flyer they have, email me or drop the information in the mailbox that would be greatly appreciated!Photos in lodge please *DO NOT REMOVE*; public relations will rotate photos and place in a box when they are available for people to have.Any questions or concerns please contact me. God Bless Our Special Children. Fraternally,Andy Bush , Chairperson Special Children’s Committee (609)585-5792
Our Committee represented our Lodge at three different Veteran’s Day Ceremonies. Hank Elmer raised a new flag at Nova Nordisk and spoke highly of our Lodge and our committees work. Nancy Debnarak and Gary Wheelock placed a wreath at the Bordentown Township Veteran’s Cemetery. Our Committee was invited to McFarland School for their Veteran’s Day Program. Jim and Sharon Sharpe, Nancy Debnarak, RuthAnn Hensley, Dick Langan and Gary Wheelock attended. Dick and Gary were seated with other honored veterans. The students and staff presented an outstanding program. We wish to thank everyone who donated toys to our Toy Box.We visited Vineland and everyone had a great time. We’ve gotten to know so many of the residents over the years, it’s like a reunion when we visit. We added another group of troops and sent Thanksgiving care packages to both groups. This month we add a third group and will send Christmas packages to all.We will be joining the Mission of Honor and place flags on 425 veteran’s graves at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Cem- etery on December 17.As always thanks to all who have donated coupons, we send a batch each month to our Military Families over- seas. Thanks to all who support our 1st Wednesday of the month dinners and thanks to the faithful bingo players who support our bingo ticket sales. We could not do what we do without your support. Also, we want to thank Rich and Barbara DeLuca, and their UPS store, for all their help with getting our Thanks- giving and Christmas packages delivered to our troops. Ongoing projects: Collecting sample size toiletries, books, batteries, CD’s, DVD’s and all occasion greeting cards for Vineland and the troops and The Mission of Honor donations and the coupons. If you could take a few minutes, cut them out and divide them between food (anything you swallow, meds, etc.) and non food it would be a great help. Many thanks.
Happy New Year Peace Be With You.Fraternally yours,Jim Sharpe, Chairman
AMERICANISMI am very happy that we are continuing to recite the Pledge of Allegiance and singing God Bless America at our Wednesday Sandwich Nights.
Merry Christmas to all! On Christmas Day, please take a moment to remember those veterans who have served our country in the past and all our troops who cannot be home to celebrate with their families. Keep them in your thoughts and prayers, always.
