FUMC-BA News this Week! December 22, 2013
Luke 2:1-7 1 In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree
that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. 2 (This was the first census that took place
while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) 3 And everyone went to their own town to register.
4 So Joseph also went up from the town of
Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of
David. 5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a
child. 6 While they were there, the time came for the
baby to be born, 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a
manger, because there was no guest room available for them.
This Week!
A Christmas Story
There are hundreds of Christmas
stories – dozens of Christmas movies
are shown every year. Some
become ‘classics’ like “A
Christmas Story” – the story of one
little boy’s dreams of receiving a BB
gun for Christmas – but what do
these stories tell us about how we
view the real Christmas story? What are we truly
longing for at Christmas? Come next week for the
final Sunday of Advent!
We are pleased to announce that Graeme Collett will be joining
our staff on January 1st. For the last three and a half years
Graeme served as Director of Student Ministries at the First
United Methodist Church of Sand Springs. His wife, Jetonne
Collett, is finishing nursing school and plans to work at St.
Francis South Hospital. Born in Mantiboa, Canada, raised in
Nebraska, Graeme graduated from Oklahoma State University
in Stillwater, where he met Jetonne. We are excited to welcome
Graeme and Jetonne to FUMCBA!!
Thank you for the
support you gave to
Broken Arrow Neighbors
and Cookson Hills. And
thank you for adopting
Christmas Angels.
Everyone of our
angels was adopted and
received a gift. One
terrific thing this year
was that two Sunday
School classes got
together and paid rent for
one month for a
deserving single mother.
We are such a giving and
loving church, and it is
very much appreciated,
especially at this time of
year.
