August 2017:
Raksha Bandhan was celebrated in school.A special assembly was held in which the students
were told about the importance of the festival, melodious songs of yester years “Hum Beheno
ke liye”,“Bhaiya mere” were played.The girl students enjoyed tying rakhi on the wrists of
boy studentswho in turn gave them a chocolate. It was a joyous occasion for all of us.
6th
August 2017:
32nd
Foundation Day of DPS Vindhyanagar was celebrated in the Air Conditioned
Auditorium of the school with great pomp and show.
24 students of classes I&II had put up a fabulous programme –“Bal Krishna Ki Anokhi
Hath Leela”. The colourful presentation of the programme enthralled the audience with its
wonderful presentation and kept the audience spell bound for 10 minutes.
11th
August 2017:
70th
Independence Day was celebrated in school. All the sections from classes LKG to II had
put up wonderful performances but the programme put up by class I D “Beti Bachao Beti
Padhao”, Nukkad Natak by Class II B based on the Fundamental rights of Indian citizens
and the mime act by II D depicting India‟s struggle for Independence and its final
achievement needs special mention. They were simply fabulous.
Our Principal Sir Dr. Janardan Pandey was invited to view the programme and he was full of
praises for the efforts made by the students and staff.
The programme concluded with the distribution of sweet packets sponsored by NTPC
Vindhyachal.
12th
August 2017:
Hindi calligraphy competition was held which was open to all.300 children took part in the
competition and exhibited their writing skill.
16th
August 2017:
Revision for E-II commenced in all the classes.
21stAugust 2017:
Skill tests for E-II commenced.
The result of poster making competition on “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” sponsored by NTPC
Vindhyachal was declared. 300 students from various schools participated but the students of
DPS (P.W) had out shown everyone by bagging all three prizes.

nd Foundation Day of DPS Vindhyanagar was celebrated with great pomp and
show. Shri Dinesh Kumar, GGM NTPC Vindhyachal was the Chief Guest of the
occasion. The programme put up by the budding students mesmerized one and all.
The prizes were given away and various programmes were performed by the
extremely talented students were cheered and appreciated by the audience. Long
Service award was also given away to the staff & teachers who completed their 10
years, 20 years and 30 years of Service in the school.

August, 2017: Independence Day was celebrated in the school with great patriotic fervor. The flag
was hoisted by Dr. Janardan Pandey, Principal of the school, excellent speeches were
given by the teachers and students of the school. It was followed by the march past
and field display programme by the students in Amebdkar Stadium. The show put up
by our school was appreciated by one and all.
16th
August, 2017: Interactive session of Parents with Principal of the school took place. Parents put up
their problems and their doubts were clarified in the same meeting. They appreciated
the initiatives taken by the school to clear the doubts of the slow learn and aspirants of
competitive various exams in evening from 4.30 p.m. to 6.00 p.m.
18th
August, 2017: Our Junior Quiz Team comprising of Vinayak Srivastava, Class VI-D and Lakshya
Singh, VI-D participated in National National Medha Pratiyogita. Out of 8 teams
participated from All India, they secured 4th
position after giving tough fight to all the
teams.
21stAugust,2017:
Results of Swachh Bharat Competition Conducted by NTPC Vindhyachal was
announced. Our school grabbed almost all the prizes in each and every category. For
III-V Painting competition was held and the result is as given below:

th AUGUST‟17-Inter- DPS dance Competition- JAIPUR:
Dance competition titled „Nrityanjali‟ was held at Jaipur where 18 schools had
participated, DPS (V) being one of them. The theme on which the dance could be
based was „Awakening or Satyamev Jayate‟. Awakening was selected and the
essence of YOGA was vibrantly depicted in the dance by our team of eight students.
It received great appreciation by the judges and the audience.

32nd
Foundation Day of DPS (V) was celebrated with much dedication symbolizing
the various facts of its being and the sojourn of 31 years which was spectacular as
well. An eventful evening for all invitees- a vibrant cultural programme with 150
certificates of achievers to be distributed, welcome of special guest alumni Ms.
Nuzhat Parveen who is presently in the Indian Cricket Team (women), had just
returned from her trip abroad, teachers awarded for their dedicated service (10 and 20
years) and power point presentation which featured the past journey. The entire
programme was a grand success.

August‟17-I/H SOLO DANCE COMPETITION (Semi-classical):
Students kept up to the tradition of excellent performances and exposed their best
talent of dancing to the tune of some well-known numbers. The ethos of classical
dance came to the forefront and the judges and audience were left speechless.
Performers received the blessings and appreciation of Honourable Principal Sir.

August‟17-INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION:
71st Year of Independence could be well celebrated as it brought a bright sunny
morning. As the day evokes a proud feeling of patriotism, the school premises
enthralled as the National Flag hoisted by our Honourable Principal fluttered high to
mark the day. A short programme held the interest of one and all, the staff and
students, guides and the school band. The blend of speeches, patriotic songs and
quotes of national leaders did for a moment remind us of the great sacrifices of the
freedom fighters.
The most awaited programme at Ambedkar Stadium by NTPC (VNGR) began at 9.00
a.m. The flag was hoisted by GGM (VNGR). The students and cadets marched to the
drum beat, the BAND of DPS (V).Different schools performed different Programmes.
DPS (V) had YOGA as its theme and the field display and the pyramids together held
the audience glued to the presentation and the stadium echoed with thunderous
applause from one and present there.
23rd
August‟17-Special Assembly by Jhelum House:
Morning assembly but an unusual one as it comprised the auspicious celebration of
„Ganesh Chaturthi‟. Students who lacked the knowledge of its importance and
existence could well understand it then and left a spiritual impact on one and all
present there.

August‟17- Inter-House English Debate Competition:
With much zeal and enthusiasm students entered the debate competition, the topic of
which was „SMARTPHONES-A BOON OR BANE‟ .Both the for and against teams
held interesting argument while the interjectors questions were tricky enough which
made it difficult for some to answer.

The month of August hiving over several momentous dates and details bustled with lots
preparation, practices and preparation.
32nd
Foundation Day was celebrated with unprecedented splendour. The Chief Guest of the
day Shri. Dinesh Kumar, GGM, NTPC, Vindhyachal along with other dignitaries, President
Suhasini Sangh and its members as well, graced the occasion. Lighting of the lamp, an
invocation to seek the blessings of the Almighty, was followed by the hymns of Ganesh
Vandana. Cultural section was let out of many sub sequential performances like Medley,
dance by Primary Wing Dipsites depicting the ever charming images of Lord Krishna and
Radha, mesmerized every heart. Medley, a bouquet of old Hindi songs made the evening
quite unforgettable. English drama titled „Teacher I look to you‟ characterized the core
values and educational ethics of DPS Vindhya Nagar. In this era of personalized focus and
barren bonds even the relationship between a teacher and taught is often doubted and
interrogated, the skit asserted that even the devastating waves of personalized interests could
not obstruct the teacher taught relationship from flowering. How a Delhi Public school
wishes to groom a child and how it wishes to mould its pupils into wholesome youths was
depicted.

trophies and certificate. For the various competitions which school conducted throughout the

highlighting the hard work and meticulous efforts of the achievers went long and proudly

President Suhasini Sangh. The magazine, a speak about treasure of messages, addresses and
expressions is a feast to reading lovers. It entails with snippets of various activities, gala
events, unbeatable academic records and glimpses of many other proud moments.
On 15th
August the Independence programme, practising over a fortnight did its final
show on the field of Ambedkar stadium, situated within the premises of NTPC
Vindhyanagar. The team of anchors inclusive of 3 teachers and students, with exquisite zest,

Young dipsites doing different Aasans created a vast living expanse of Yoga. Moving
pyramid with its quick and accurate alignment, stole the show. Class.12th Toppers of
different streams were felicitated by NTPC, HR with a cheque of 3000Rs. March past crew
divided into three teams did the best show , one out of three teams ,was specifically of
Guides. They presented a perfect rhythm and co ordination of hand and legs. Marching step
to step to each other across the field they proved that they could be the best cadet for
tomorrow. Another attraction of the school was Pyramid It stood outstanding by creating
Moving Pyramid. It authenticated that keeping balance is the spine of every successful climb.
Band comprising of 20 Dipsites was declared „Best Turn Out‟. Like every year, DPS
Vindhya Nagar was applauded for its performance extraordinaire.
On 18th August special session for girls was conducted by Dr. Sushma Prabhu . Special
health issues were addressed . Awareness about keeping oneself hygienically healthy ,
handling teen aging problems and coping with being alone at home as being single child or
being child of working parents . An open interactive session was also followed wherein girls
were asked to speak about their problems frankly.
On 20th
of Aug. Pre.RMO Test was conducted in Kendriya Vidyalaya, Singrauli, in which
70 Dipsites starting from class 8th
to 11 appeared to write their test. The result is likely to be
declared in the mid of September.
On 23rd
of August, Assembly of Jhelum House, which was supposed to be held on 5th
August , was conducted with the theme of „Freedom Fighters‟,. The essence of the theme was
reflected through all the segments of the Assembly i.e. thought, speech, skit and quiz. The
pledge sent by CBSE, was administered by the Principal and each Dipsite solemnly took the
pledge and promised to honour the hard earned freedom. The skit highlighted August Kranti
and sacrifices of the leaders involved into it. The participants vehemently presenting P.M.
Modi‟s vision i.e „To move from Sankalp to Siddhi‟ visualized the face of New India.
On 26th August Inter House Folk Song Competition was organized to encourage local
hues of different states.The results were as follow:

On 23rd August Special Motivational Session was conducted by Dr. Sushma Prabhu for
boys of classes IX to XII. How to set aims, how to work to achieve them and and how to stay
cool so that nothing could distract them from heading towards their goal. Identifying the
positives of oneself and and promoting them to potentials was the core concept of the session.
The students were advised to discuss their problems with their parents as they could only be
the best friends and best mentor. Staying in bad company could hassel them from putting in
the best of the efforts to get their objectives.

On 26TH
of August ,Slogan Writing Competition, to bring awareness in young minds
towards different milestones of development which the government is heading to , was
organized Traffic Police Department .A team of class 9th
students with escort teacher I. U.
Upadhyay (TGT) Biology reached the venue. There in Slogan Writing Competition students
, on the assigned theme of „Importance of Education‟ and „Women Empowerment‟ wrote
strong slogans .Vaishali (Cl. 9) was felicitated with gift and appreciation certificate.
Special classes for slow learners and doubt clearing classes for the students of 9 to 12 , were
scheduled regularly. Students in these classes, since not haunted by hesitation, put up their
problems to the teachers and certainly get benefitted.
Dr. Janardan Pandey , Principal ,working to improve each dipsite and help them to come out
of their negativity, declared several dates and specific time to have a meeting with the parents
and wards . No doubt his gentle and wise counselling brings in viable transformations in the
attitude of students. So often parents of such children, with a faith of getting their ward
improved, come forward to contact him.
On 30th
of August a debate competition on the topic „Quit India Movement‟ was given by
time and circumstances not by leaders‟ sponsored by NTPC was conducted in the school. The

On 31th
of August , the month crept to its closure with faculty meetings headed by HODs ,
followed by a staff meeting headed by the Principal regarding discipline issues and
preparation of Examination to be held from 9 th September.
