    TATTS FOALS KICK OFF Tattersalls' DecemberFoal Sale began in Newmarket yesterday with theweakest of the four days but the 7,944gns averagewas still up 12 percent on last year's record, the5,000gns median was up 25 percent and the1,421,900gns aggregate for an expanded cataloguewas virtually double the 2002 figure. The top price wasjust 40,000gns - a fraction of the sums that will bemade later in the week - for an athletic son of Fraam(GB) (Lead On Time) offered for a partnership fromWest Moor Stud. Agent Gill Richardson outbidpinhooker Eddie O'Leary, owner of Lynn Lodge Stud inCo Westmeath, for the colt. "He was bought to race fora client and was a fabulous athletic colt," said Richardson. A Lujain (Seeking The Gold) colt out of theunraced Petardia (GB) mare Georgianna (Ire) wasbought for 39,000gns by Oliver Gaisford St Lawrencefrom the Swinburn family's locally-based Genesis GreenStud.     MEIMANN FIRED Detlef Meimann has been fired as the managing direc-tor of the Direktorium, Germany’s ruling body.
