A Message from the President Pearls of Delta Knowledge Savannah Alumnae Chapter October 2016 I greet each of you in the name of love, and welcome you back from our summer hiatus with open arms. I trust that you are ready to get back to the work of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated Savannah Alumnae Chapter, with vigorous enthusiasm. We have accomplished much in the past year. Our programs and projects continue to impact our community, and as a result, you sorors have been rewarded for your hard work and dedication to causes greater than yourselves. Savannah Alumnae Chapter was recognized twice on the regional level during the 90 th Southern Regional Conference in Kissimmee, Florida. The chapter received an award for the Uganda Kids Choir Project, spearheaded by the International Awareness and Involvement committee in collaboration with the Arts and Letter committee and for the Mental Health Symposium spearheaded by the Program Planning and Development committee. May 15, 2016 marked the point of standing on the dreams of the thirteen Charter members as they chartered our beloved chapter, Beta Delta Sigma now Savannah Alumnae Chapter. As we continue to celebrate our 75 th Chapter Anniversary, I ask that you continue to be committed to our chapter and to the sisterhood. I ask that you continue to work for and with our programs and projects and I ask that you continue to uphold our nine cardinal virtues: Compassion, Courtesy, Dedication, Fellowship, Fidelity, Honesty, Justice, Purity, and Temperance as we continue to move the agenda of our beloved sisterhood forward. Pearls of Delta Knowledge

Savannah Alumnae Chapter October 2016

I greet each of you in the name of love, and welcome you back from our summer

hiatus with open arms. I trust that you are ready to get back to the work of Delta

Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated Savannah Alumnae Chapter, with vigorous

enthusiasm. We have accomplished much in the past year. Our programs and

projects continue to impact our community, and as a result, you sorors have been

rewarded for your hard work and dedication to causes greater than yourselves.

Savannah Alumnae Chapter was recognized twice on the regional level during the

SPOTLIGHT: FINANCIAL FORTITUDE Soror Ebony Simpson, chair of Financial Fortitude is excited about the sororal y e a r. S h e a n d h e r committee have a vision to empower the chapter and the community to be money wise and financially uninhibited in a smart and thoughtful way.

Join them at the Estate P l a n n i n g S e m i n a r , November 5 at Macedonia B a p t i s t C h u r c h i n E f f i n g h a m C o u n t y . Helping citizens consider how to plan for their property and personal belongings is important to them their heirs and the communities in which they live.

Recognizing that members of Delta Sigma Theta are professional women and

represent tremendous buying power in their communities, Financial Fortitude initiated the Q u a r t e r l y M i n o r i t y

Business Spotlight where local business owners provide Soros incentives to support their businesses. T h i s i s a n e x c e l l e n t opportunity to support local businesses and keep our money in our city. So far we have supported Belford’s, 520 Wings and Indulge Coffee Shop.

E a c h m o n t h , t h e committee also provides financial nuggets to the chapter with the Financial Tip of the month.

We are asking every Soror to be responsible for influencing at least 10 friends and family members to vote.

As we form partnerships and devise

strategies to get our citizens to the polls,

please check our corner for volunteer

opportunities. The most important thing

that we all can do now is spread the word
