Bill Freeman, who magnificently filmed our camp’s last four Grand Balls in

2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014 (and was the best photographer we have

ever had), passed away suddenly on June 11. Everyone is in shock that

such a terrific man was taken from us at the young age of 65. Now, there’s

an empty place in our hearts since we will no longer see our good friend,

Bill, nor reap his excellent photographic talents. No longer will we see his

smiling face as he encouraged our smiles at the camera. Bill made our

Twilight in Gettysburg in March a special Kodak moment to remember for all

time! We owe him much gratitude and many thanks for making our event of

the year so sublime. As always, Bill was excellent in flawlessly photographing

almost a hundred attendees, and we will always appreciate his patience and

attention to detail in taking many varied poses to make them just perfect.

Every year, Bill made his portion of the Ball better. He purchased extra

special lighting and the rose added a nice touch! We were amazed to see

him surpass himself by creating an impossible but forever keepsake group

photo! We are truly thankful for his painstakingly creating the finished DVDs

with all Ball photos including period music. We know we repeat ourselves

when we say Bill was truly the most professional photographer we have ever

had the pleasure of knowing but it is worth repeating because he was both a

terrific business associate plus a very good and dear friend. We will never

forget Bill. He passed away at his residence. His funeral was held on June

17 at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home in Smithton. We extend our

deepest sympathy and many thoughts and prayers to his wife of 43 years,

Nancy Lee Freeman, and their daughter, Kimberly Lynn Freeman.

Thank You note received from Nancy and Kim Freeman:

“Members of Camp Dixon, thank you for remembering Bill with the beautiful floral arrangement and amazing card.

He often commented that photographing the Grand Ball wasn’t a job but a meeting with friends. He always looked

forward with anticipation to the Grand Ball. I’m certain you’ll feel his spirit there next year. Thank you for your

thoughts and prayers.”

April 1, 2014. Bill took over 300 photos at our Grand Ball in March, and this is the only photo we have of him

receiving a camp letter of appreciation from Gale. With all the hard work and hours he put into our event of the

year and the polished DVD, he’s still smiling, as he always did. We will so much miss him and his happy face!
