Design For ChangeA program by students to make village Tobacco free.

THERE ARE MANY PROBLEMS IN VILLAGE, BUT USE OF TOBACCO BY YOUNGSTERS IS THE MOST DANGEROUS ONE.EASY AVAILABILITY OF TOBACCO PRODUCTS AND USE OF TOBACCO BY ELDERS IN THEIR HOUSE ACTS AS CATALYST FOR NEW GENERATION TO BE GRABBED BY INTOXICANTS. SO THE STUDENTS OF OUR SCHOOL DECIDED TO HIGHLIGHT THE ILL-EFFECTS OF USE OF TOBACCO.

Students prepared a questionnaire to get actual status of Tobacco addicts in village.

Students targeted shop-keepers of village to collect data because they sold Tobacco products in village.

RESPONSES

After visiting all the shops in village, students collected data:-

Nearly 55% males are addictive to tobacco. Villagers are not aware about ill-effects of tobacco. All age groups, including adults and youngsters, are

addictive. Easy availability is the major cause for addiction.

Villagers can be motivated to get the sale of tobacco products banned.

3. DOAfter thorough discussions, students decided to do:- Orgainze rallies in village to catch attraction of villagers towards the problem. Door to Door visits to Aware community about ill-effects of Tobacco. Contact Doctors and other active section of society to get support in campaign. To create consensus among shop keepers to get sale of Tobacco products in village banned.

Addictives are contacted and awared about diseases caused by Tobacco by showing

pictures.

4. IMPACTAs final step, students invited all sections of society in

Panchayat Ghar of village.

Students discussed problem and suggested solutions that can help community to get rid of Tobacco

products.

Villages and shop-keepers accept the purposal of banning sale of tobacco in village.
