CRAFTING INTERIORSrepresents the integration of a client specific brand intoa functional space, with unparalleled attention to detailand commitment to the total experience.

Experienced space planning strategy and a client’s brand mold the foundation for a successful retail environment. Merchandising through shop and shops and vendor supplied fixtures is common practice in the industry, however, fully integrated, client driven environments are rare. We create harmonious spaces using planning, finishes, lighting, graphics, furniture, fixtures, and branding to form an environment that serves as a unique, vendor neutral backdrop for all products as well as elevating theoverall brand of the client.

We are agents of change, coordinating projects of all sizes and scopes, and will deliver a finished product that will enhance a customerexperience and ultimately drive sales and customer commitment.

RUNNING CENTRAL2014 TOP-4 FINALIST, BEST RUNNING STORES IN U.S.When Adam and Marie White began considering a renovation to their Peoria, IL specialty running store in 2010, great consideration was given to location and growth potential, and Adam wanted to be the top specialty running store in the U.S. As our client, we studied multiple locations and after a long process the White’s chose to make an old antique warehouse on the Illinois river in Peoria’s downtown warehouse district their new home. With exceptional existing architecture including brick walls, wide and arched openings, and timber beams and columns, we were able to juxtaposevintage and aged architecture against modern and refined product displays. The plan includes reclaimed fixture displays, an expansive kids area, a large women’s changing room lounge, community flex space, and business offices. After a grand opening in 2014, Running Central acheived their goal and has put Peoria on the map of running specialty stores nationwide.

GAZELLE SPORTS2011 TOP-4 FINALIST, BEST RUNNING STORES IN U.S.With locations now spanning the entire state, Gazelle Sports Grand Rapids had grown to their largest and most profitable location. Rather than move to a different location, Gazelle chose to expand their 8000 sf space to 12,000 sf, with a 4000 sf women’s driven boutique. With careful design attention to customer experience and staff efficiency, we broke up the large space with multiple storage pods on the retail floor for easy product access, increased POS locations, dropped ceiling elements over the shoe fit zones to increase the intimacy of the experience, branded / messaging, and a unique masonry accent wall used to merchandise product. We met the challenge of creating a small boutique experience in a large, big box retail footprint. Paying homage to the West Michigan furniture history with mid-century seating from local manufacturers, the Grand Rapids store continues to succeed and its growth has driven a Gazelle Sports expansion to the east side of Michigan and metro Detroit.

GAZELLE SPORTSDOWNTOWN RENOVATION 2013Backlit footwear walls framed with light, acrylic pegs with flame polished ends, original brick, dropped ceiling blades with backlit lines that echo a road, local mid-century modern furniture, and a neutral color palette have elevated the downtown Holland Gazelle Sports location to the premier athletic footwear and apparel destination in the area. Renovating their existing location, we wereable to accomplish an enhanced experience through altering aesthetics and texture, resulting in anexplosive growth in sales and customer base. At 3500 sf and occupying a fraction of theGrand Rapids footprint and project budget, the Holland space serves as the design protocol forall new Gazelle locations moving forward across the state.

WOLVERINE WORLD WIDECORPORATE CAFE AND LOBBY RENOVATIONAs a top 4 footwear manufacturer worldwide, Wolverine awarded us the task of updating their corporate cafeteria and visitor atrium lobby to reflect their historic and established brand while representing and advancing the brands of their ever-expanding company portfolio. Dated anduninspiring, their existing cafeteria received limited use and was transformed into an energizeddestination for employees to have lunch, take a break, hold informal meetings, and work remotely. The program includes a new coffee bar, fireplace, multiple lounge areas, work counters, and 162seats. Leather wrapped columns with boot laces, distressed wood, and reclaimed timber from thedemolished Wolverine boot tannery help narrate the Wolverine brand story.

#WE RUN MI

GAZELLE SPORTSENTRY INTO THE EAST MICHIGAN MARKETGazelle Sports chose Northville as the first market to bridge west Michigan and the east side of the state. With numerous competitors in the broader metro Detroit area, the strategy was to set Gazelle Sports apart through a visually stunning space to support their commitment to exceptional customer service. As a study of rich textures and the tension of movement, both things a customer will experience on a run, we accomplished our mission. Retaining similar design language to their other 3 locations, the Gazelle Sports brand is supported through a neutral backdrop for product display and rich textures through the use of locally harvested wood from Reclaim Detroit. One challenge was communicating the Gazelle Sports mission and already successful brand to new customers. This is executed through a large feature wall at the entry, leveraged to simultaneouslytell brand and staff stories, Gazelle heritage, and merchandise feature products. Now coveringthe state, Gazelle Sports runs Michigan.
