UP Front Magazine is an expats pub-zine that requested to be taken to another level in a two step image change. I developed a logo, business cards and promotional material. This lead to a complete redesign of the magazine.

A new image was needed for contact with a larger audience. The result was a bet-ter lifestyle magazine that attracted the expat community that is getting younger, wealthier and staying longer in Belgium but also attracted the Belgian natives beginning Brussels, then Flanders and later the Wallonians. This lead to a 500 percent increase in advertising and a monthly radio program on FM Brussels. A month later I was taken on as full-time art director and journalist.Eventually I was asked to do the logo and advertising for the publishing company and was creating advertisements for the magazines clients.

Greek pharmacists and medicinal herbs

The Panhellenic Pharmaceutical Association has been engaged in promoting sustainable

agricultural development based on the exploitation of medicinal herbs in different parts of Greece and plans

to invest in this field. Greek flora is renowned for its wealth as it numbers over 5,500 varieties, 1200 out of which are endemic plants that are known for their

traditional use and are not to be found anywhere else in the world

(Olive oil, Basil, Chamomile, Fennel, Sage, Linden, Rosemary).

Among them we find ingredients that are very rare or unique to the world, grow in specific areas of Greece, are harvested and naturally processed by the people of local communities. Such natural products are saffron (Crocus sativus) and essential oil of Rosa sp., which are exclusively cultivated and processed at the prefecture of Kozani, West Macedonia, Hellas.

In collaboration with regional pharmaceutical associations and cultivators’ associations, four strategic directions have been developed:

1. Alternative cultivations of medicinal herbs (focus: regions associated with reduction

or elimination of tobacco and cotton cultivation).

2. Creation of a network among botanical gardens, able to create awareness in alternative ways of health tourism and eco-tourism.

3. “Presentation” of the local natural treasure but meanwhile preservation of

local biodiversity.

4. Focus in hemi-synthetic production issues.
