• Support delivery of the Oman Vision 2040 seeking to diversify the economy away from a reliance on oil by focusing on privatization, industrialization and tourism, as well as transportation and logistics.

APPROACH

Vision 2020 Reduce the oil and gas contribution to GDP by boosting industrialization and

encouraging the private sector to take a more active role in the economy.

Five Year Plan (2011-2015) Increase spending on key

infrastructure projects.

Vision 2040 Oman’s Logistics Strategy 2040 aims to improve efficiency and reduce costs in

handling shipments. Targets to increase capacity to 1.5 million tonnes.

Building on the goals laid out in Vision 2020

Ninth Five Year Plan (2016-2020) Promote economic diversification and

the growth of the private sector.

LOCATION

§  Muscat airport is located between Muscat and Seeb.

§  As illustrated, there are a number of communities and neighborhood developments within the agglomeration.

§  Muscat airport development areas, would become central positions of the future urban fabric and city expansion.

§  The site total development area is 3,284,000 m². Including : Central Cargo and T1 Car Park.

§  The site is bordered to the north by the Gulf of Oman and to the south by the main Sultan Qaboos highway with mixed residential / commercial areas to the east and west.

§  The roads infrastructure in the immediate vicinity of Muscat Airport has already been upgraded with further enhancements with the opening of the 62 km Muscat Expressway.
