Development Diary… I started with the background for my contents page. To do this I duplicated the layer that I had already opened by going to the layers bar, right clicking on the current layer and selecting ‘duplicate layer’. Once I had done this I decided I wanted to have a gradient on the background of my contents page as this would keep with the running house style of magazine as it is what my front cover had. To do this I used the gradient tool in Photoshop and selected the two same colours that I used on my front cover (pale pink and light grey). This is what the background looked like once I had ‘dragged’ the gradient over the page.

Development Diary…

I started with the background for my contents page.

I then looked to add the main ‘title’ to the page or where it would say ‘Contents’.I thought it important to make this point stand out to my audience so I decided to put the text within a box – I just used the shape tool for this and set it to the rectangle.

The next step involved me resizing and positioning the shape in the correct place. For this I used the keyboard shortcut ‘cmd’ and ‘T’ and then pressed entre when I was happy with it.

I then added in the text.

For this I used the text tool in Photoshop on the tool bar.

I then changed the text using the text tool bar at the top of the page and positioned and resized it accordingly.

This is what it looked like.

The next step was adding in the listings and editors letter. For this I used the same method and all the same tools that I used to make the ‘Contents’ ‘title’ at the top of the page.

Again, for continuity purposes I wanted to add the same splatter effect that I used on the cover of my media product. I used the same brushes that I downloaded previously and resized them and changed the level of opacity to match that of the cover.

Finally, I added in the images for the contents page. I made these different so that the different images could correspond with different listings.

To add and edit the images I followed all the same steps that I did for the cover images. I then resized them and positioned them in the same place too.
