Diablo Bowmen Archery Club July 2014 President’s Message By Angel Yarne, President Hello Diablo Members: Wow! Another very successful Open House Event for Diablo. We served close to 300 participants including one that was only 2 years old. I truly cannot thank the Diablo Members that volunteered for this event enough. You were all top notch when it came to doing what had to be done and very cooperative when I had to move you around to cover various positions. You should all give yourselves a round of applause. Another set of awesome and dedicated volunteers are those who have been leading and assisting in the continued rebuild of our range as well as gathering materials when possible at no cost to the club. The Winter Shack, path steps and walkways, painting, cleaning, mending, beautifying. You are the reason our range is a desirable place to be and shoot. You know who you are because you are always there right in the middle of those projects that make our range a better place. Thank you all. With membership renewal time coming to the close of its cycle I want to bring your attention to the club's duck. She is always working on club matters. You see her around and she looks calm on top but those feet are always swimming for a better and more ecient way to do things. She does make stuhappen. Monumental in the club obtaining a range vehicle, streamlining the new member process, working with Thor to get the work hours noted in our chart system; created a to-do-list so that anyone stepping into the cook shack could get the job done and creating a sanitary system for our food/drink prep. Handling new memberships, renewals, taking minutes for membership meetings and board meetings. Not to mention shopping for and schlepping large amounts of food and beverages for and to the range. I know she doesn't like the attention but she is very important to the smooth system we now enjoy at the range. She has been a super power for me as president and a friend. Sharla, thank you for all that you do both out front and behind the scenes. I am still open for volunteers that can rebuild the deck around the women's outhouse area and/or the fence as well as the deck to the equipment trailer. Call me if you might be interested and/or just have questions. With that I'll let you all get back to shooting, Angel 1 To submit content and photos to the newsletter, email [email protected] Diablo 900 Update Diablo’s 900 Round will be held every last Saturday of the Month. President’s Message By Angel Yarnell, President"Hello Diablo Members:!

Wow! !

Thank you all.!

With membership renewal time coming to the close of its cycle I want to bring your attention to the club's duck. She is always working on club matters. You see her around and she looks calm on top but those feet are always swimming for a better and more efficient way to do things. She does make stuff happen. !

I am still open for volunteers that can rebuild the deck around the women's outhouse area and/or the fence as well as the deck to the equipment trailer. Call me if you might be interested and/or just have questions. !

With that I'll let you all get back to shooting, !

Angel!

Range Report by Bill Potts, Range Manager"A new culvert has been installed beneath our main road between the entrance gate and the yellow gate (see photo). The fire burned the one that we had because it was made of plastic. Thanks to Brian Slattengren for once again bringing his excavator and tools to complete this important project. Brian is going to make a concrete catch basin at the head of the culvert.!

Our new containers have been painted an earth tone color and blend in very well to the landscape, as well as the outhouse that is at target 20 on the Dixon round. Member, Mark Paulson supplied his spraying equipment and expertise to this project, thanks Mark! they look great. Carol Jorgensen added a nice little artistic touch to the outhouse:)!

The Winter Shack is coming along nicely, nice work Cleon, Kent and Pat.!

We put out target bales on the Dixon round at the July work party, which is a big step towards getting our third round of four opened. All of the helpers that moved the bales worked VERY hard putting them out, they weigh about 500 lbs. each and have to go into some awkward locations. Our range vehicle makes a HUGE difference when we are moving bales, one bale fits perfectly into the bed. (see photos). We have to move two targets and build a large backstop on the Dixon. The more people that come out for the work parties, the sooner we can get the Dixon round open.!

Our members have also cut a large supply of rubber for target butt roofs, sprayed a lot of poison oak and done quite a bit of tree trimming and weed eating.!

Lastly, I would like to thank Pat Miller for volunteering to run the August and September work parties, I will be traveling for about two months, and will be unable to attend.!

Thank You to all of our members that have been working on the range, come out and shoot it!!
