Digital Video in the Primary ClassroomTeacher Planning and Management

Background and Planning

Background & Planning:

This project was a development of a language programme, Moving Images, which uses movies to stimulate writing.

The mains aims of this project were to encourage the children to work collaboratively, take on leadership roles, make decisions and manage time effectively to complete set tasks towards a whole class outcome.

The children also broadened their knowledge and understanding of nutrition and physical health and developed their ICT skills

Digital Video in the Primary ClassroomTeaching ResourcesAs an introduction to creating the Health promoting video, the children participated in a Moving Images Language Programme, using video to stimulate writing.

The children were then encouraged to reflect on the Health related activities they have participated in and select appropriate activities to include in a DVD, in order to raise awareness of Healthy Living.

The areas they chose to focus on were

Health Activities in Class

Health Projects and Topics

St Cadoc’s Health Week

Healthy Eating Options in St Cadoc’s

Sports and Activities

The children then divided into groups to plan the different sections of the DVD. They took responsibility for generating and creating ideas, constructing storyboards, organising shots and filming and directing their group section of the movie.
