The voices of disability confidence at Remploy
1. Remploy has Disability Confident Leader Status
2. We currently have a growing number of 9 disability ambassadors
spread around the UK
3. Our ambassadors seek to continuously improve our internal
policies & procedures and are a resource for our internal
colleagues & external partners
4. We support 100’s of national, regional & local organisations to
become even disability confident & guide them through the levels
5. Through our programmes & partnerships we successfully introduce
organisations to a talent pool of people who are ready, willing and
able to work (disabled talent)
6. We are happy to take questions at the end of our presentation

Introduction
My name is Tony Collins
I am the learning disability
Ambassador for Remploy
Today I would like to talk about
Remploy Ambassadors
What I do in my role
And why its so important to me
to be an Ambassador

So what do I do in my role at Remploy?
In my role I do the following
Public speaking
Training workshops
Easy read
And webinars
4
Presentation title here
I wouldn’t be able to do my role without
some reasonable adjustments in place
I have flexible working hours as sometimes
I find it difficult to concentrate for too long
I have a Job Coach who
supports me in my role
5

And I had a working interview to get my job
This was really important as without this
I might never have succeeded in getting
my job in the first place
As the usual way of interviewing is
just too difficult for me
6
Presentation title here
People like me find it really hard to talk about
how good they would be in the job
The working interview allowed me to
show how good I would be
A working interview is an easy
reasonable adjustment to put in place

So what is a Remploy Ambassador
Remploy Ambassadors are a team of Remploy employees
and other people in employment
With life experience of disability
We work with employers and partners to help
them become more disability confident
8
Presentation title here
We go around the country talking
to people and organisations
To let them know that people with disabilities
make great employees
.
Our aim is to have ambassadors
in every region of the UK
9
Presentation title here
So we can inspire other disabled people
And help employers to understand
more about disability
So they can do more to support
disabled people into work
10
Presentation title here
Why is this so important to me?
The employment rate for people with
learning disabilities is only 6%
This is far too low !
Being an Ambassador can help
raise this figure
11
Presentation title here
And we can help employers to know more about
reasonable adjustments
This is so important as with a few
simple adjustments
Employers would not miss out having
some great employees
12

In the past I have worked in a leisure centre
and was paid in tokens from the lockers
I also worked in a clothes store
where I was paid in coat hangers
Why do you think I was paid in this way?
Do you think you would have
been paid in this way?

Some of the reasons I wanted
to be a Remploy Ambassador are..
I think its really important that people like me
are treated fairly, the same as everyone else
And valued as a member of society
14
Presentation title here
I know that with good support people with
learning disabilities make great employees
We work hard and give 100% in the job
I want everyone else to know this too !
15
Presentation title here
How can I help you?
I can help you become disability confident.
I can deliver webinars and workshops about
Learning disability awareness
Reasonable adjustments
And good support for people like me.
16
Presentation title here
I can put your documents into easy read
or train members of your team to do this.
I can visit your business to see if the adjustments
you offer would work for people with
learning disabilities.
17

I can speak at your event about learning disability and
work and health, to promote good practice.
