STARTING A
BOTANICAL GARDEN
August 25, 2016:
We have decided to
simultaneously start
collecting plants in
Vermosa Construction site
for various reasons:
a. Appearance – Working
in a construction site on
a daily basis can be
stressful especially
during dusty hot days. A
garden is a respite view
and a source of fresh air
in the area.
b. Soil quality – Various
plants thrive based on
different types of soil.
Experimenting with these
soil through propagation
can give us a profile of
the types of plants to use
for aesthetic
improvement of the
campus.
c. Land Use–Propagation
during construction will
allow us to fully utilize
barren space and
minimize cost for
procurement of plants.

CAMPUS
Makati Development
Corporation (MDC) was
commissioned by Ayala Land to
do civil works including the road
networks along De La Salle
Zobel Avenue connecting
Barangays Pasong Buaya 1
and 2.
It was a struggle to go to
the site for the last two months
yet the recent progress
reflected the efforts exerted by
MDC as they are still on
schedule with their operation.
To ensure proper traffic
management, the Vermosa
Construction Team will meet
the MDC and Ayala Land
teams to discuss the following:
traffic flow and volumes, vehicle
types, turn-around, speed and
sight distance, drop-off points,
pedestrian lanes and
congestions.
TRAFFIC INITIAL
ASSESSMENT STUDY
Transport Planners, Mr. Randolph
Carreon and Ms. Donna Lou
Carreon, began their data
gathering last August 2, 2016 on
Traffic Initial Assessment with the
following activities:
1. Survey (CVVCS) - Conducted
in order to get the present traffic
volume and character along the
major roads in the vicinity of the
site. Given the location of the
Development, the CVVCS is
conducted for at least one (1)
typical weekday, i.e. Tuesday,
Wednesday, or Thursday. This
will be for a minimum of sixteen
(16) hours from 6 am to 10 pm.
2. Inventory - This shall cover all
transport related infrastructure
and facilities within one (1) km
radius from the proposed
development site. Also, an
inventory of the present land use
and establishment within the
same area will be made. The
results of the inventories will be
used as inputs in forecasting
future traffic volume levels.
