Learning Centres for Children with Dyslexia ensures children from financially challenged families have the opportunity to gain the skills and confidence required to reach their full potential and achieve their goals. The key to the uniqueness and success of our program is all tutors are trained without charge and all tutoring is FREE to the children enrolled. We are seeking a committed individual who understand the needs of the children and their families and can lead the growth of our Learning Centre. Learning Centres for Children with Dyslexia Your Assets (may include): Tutor certification in the Orton-Gillingham Approach A Certificate in any Early Childhood Education, Education Assistant, Special Education Assistant or any Teacher College program Strong administrative and organization skills Relationship builder with strong interpersonal and communication skills An undergraduate degree, ideally in Education Strong attention to detail and accuracy A passion for literacy particularly towards those with learning difficulties Benefits of Joining Our Team A Board made up of professionals with diverse backgrounds in training, education and business who actively support the Centre and the centre director. A facility designed for the success of the one to one tutoring program A group of dedicated and committed tutors including two senior tutors who assist and support the Director An opportunity for the Director to continue their training and participate in workshops The opportunity for professional consultation with the Directors of other learning centres for children with Dyslexia across Canada Appropriate financial compensation Commitment: Approx. 25 hours per month; September to June Centre Hours: Monday - Thursday; 2:30pm - 6:30pm Interested? Learning Centre Director Primary Responsibilities Day-to-day operation of the Centre Supervision required during Centre scheduled hours Program Admissions Interview parents and students seeking admissions Review of psychologist testing and assessments Review, prioritize and approve admissions applications Administer all entry admission requirements Tutor Admissions Actively seek new volunteer tutors through development and marketing activities Interviewing persons desiring to become a volunteer tutor Scheduling and supervision of tutors, including annual performance evaluations
