Mr. Wagenborg 7th Grade

Domain Archaea

• Made up entirely of Archaea

• Prokaryote(Single Cell,No Nucleus)

• Archaea means ancient- has survived for a long time

• Found in extreme environments-the hottest of the hot (hot springs), the coldest of the cold (deep oceans)

Archaea

Examples

• Found in Yellowstone National Park (Old Faithful Hot Spring)

• Found in The Dead Sea (High Salt Levels)

• Found in swamps and soils (High Amounts of Methane Gas)

Domain Bacteria

• Made up entirely of Bacteria

• Prokaryote(single cell,no nucleus)

• Found in humans, soil and water

• Good kind-turns milk into yogurt, helps with digestion in the stomach

• Bad kind-causes pneumonia, sickness and death

• Ex. E. coli- bad bacteria in foods

Bacteria

Domain Eukara

• All organisms that contain cells with a nucleus and organelles

• Called Eukaryotes

• Consists of the Kingdoms: Protists, Funji, Plant and Animal

Kingdom:Protists

• Organisms that cannot fit into any other kingdom

• Evolved from bacteria and evolved into plants, fungi and animals

• Ex- • algae (think about fish tanks and pools)• Slime molds• Kelp

Protists

• Algae Kelp Water Mold

Kingdom:Fungi

• Do not perform photosynthesis and do not eat food

• Spores Absorb nutrients from their surroundings and juices break down the substances for digestion

• Wild fungi are poisonous• Ex- mushrooms, molds (old bread or

cheese) and foot fungus

Fungi

Kingdom:Plants

• Have cell walls

• Make food through photosynthesis

• Other kingdoms depend on plants– Provide food/nutrients for the other

kingdoms– Provide habitats for other kingdoms

Ex- trees, roses, sunflowers, ferns, etc.

Plants

Kingdom:Animals

• Specialized sense organs-able to respond to their environment

• Able to move• Depend on plants for food• Depend on bacteria and fungi to recycle

nutrients in dead organisms• Ex. dog, eagle, turtle, sponge(can’t

move but can’t make its own food)

Animals

Animals

• Sponges in the ocean
