Most sentences in English language contain clause.

Clause – is the smallest grammatical unit that can express a complete proposition. It consists of a subject and a predicate.

Subject – e.g. “A little boy kissed his mother.”

Predicate –e.g. “He goes to school everyday.”

Clauses are also divided into two groups: Independent clause – it can stand alone

as a sentence.e.g. “I am a student.” Dependent clause – would be awkward or

incomplete alone.e.g. “I think that she likes me.”

Sentences can contain subjects and objects.

e.g. “Alex ate an apple.”

Subject – is generally the person or thing carrying out an action

Object - in a sentence is involved in an action but does not carry it out. The object comes after the verb.
