SPA DEVELOPMENT AND SOUTH BAY URBAN REALM
Major improvements to the Spa Grand Hall, Suncourt and public realm, that will improve the Spa’s connectivity with the town and other attractions
The scope of the project will include: Up grading aquarium top car park Providing a new facility for retail and surfing facilities in the Aquarium top roundabout Upgrading the access road to the Spa Upgrading the Spa Grand hall to provide a theatre facility for 1600 to 1800 people, and construct a retractable roof over a section of the Sun Court. Re-building the spa waters building and provide a history of the Spa

DEVELOPMENT OF A SCARBOROUGH INNOVATION CENTRE
A hub for environmental and clean technology solutions, act as a home for green start-up companies and as a provider of practical resource efficiency support to local employers.
It will build on the effectiveness of the Woodend and offer the next growth stage for these industries.
The centre will: Provide flexible business space Support innovation, enterprise & entrepreneurship Deliver resource efficiency and climate change advice to small businesses Provide green training / demonstration facilities Support the incorporation of environmental improvements and best practice in new and existing business facilities and community centres Enable networking between businesses and other innovative/technological organisations

RE-DEVELOPMENT OF OPEN AIR THEATRE

Options are been worked up to re-develop the existing theatre site to provide a 21st century cultural destination.
A feasibility study has been delivered, resulting in a concept design for a 6,000 seat theatre.
An Outline Business Plan is being prepared for submission to Yorkshire Forward.

DEVELOPMENT OF ONSHORE FACILITIES & IMPROVED BERTHS WITHIN OUTER HARBOUR
Further investment is required to develop on-shore facilities for the new pontoons and to also provide improved and new berth in the Outer Harbour. This will ensure that the Harbour fully meets the requirements of a modern marina and promotes further investment in the surrounding area.
Feasibility work has recently been completed on the Outer Harbour in respect of geo-technical work for the development of new on-shore facilities and pontoons.
A design competition has been completed and consultation on the winning design has been carried out and a planning application is in the process of been submitted.

RE-DEVELOPMENT OF FUTURIST THEATRE
In the short term, the intention is to issue a development brief in order to seek developer interest in the site for a mixed use development, with or without theatre provision.
The projected costing for this is still to be agreed, but site assembly is due to be completed in the near future. It is
anticipated that the options form part of the wider public realm development considerations.

Development of the Mere and Oliver’s Mount
Following extensive community consultation, a feasibility study and master plan for the future development of the area has been produced The next stage of the project is to explore funding and production of a planning brief to enable the development to go out to the market.
Scarborough Hub
Proposed new capital development in central Scarborough, managed by Coast and Moors Voluntary Action The Hub will provide workspace for CMVA and other voluntary sector partners.

Town Centre Master Plan
Within the town centre, the public realm is of a very variable quality and a number of regeneration options for the town centre need consideration. Investment in the streetscape. Enabling more effective connections between town and South Bay.
Market Square
The site currently occupied by Argos and other retail and office outlets has been put forward as a potential site for a Market Square. The opening up of this site would not only create a town square, which could be used for a range of performances, events and exhibitions, but would also improve the Newborough / Eastborough link and open up the Market Hall.

Development of Old Parcel’s Office into a Fine Arts Centre
Building is owned by Network Rail and is a Grade II listed building currently not in use and in a poor state of repair. The following actions have been achieved to develop the building into a Fine Arts Centre: Full planning/ listed building consent has been given to the Scarborough Studio Group to develop the building into a Fine Arts Centre. Sum of £150,000 has already been granted to the SSG for repair works to the roof. Network Rail have agreed to peppercorn rent Project team including Scarborough Borough Council is in place to coordinate the next stages of this project and to explore HLF funding
Art Gallery
The project is for the redevelopment of Gallery, one of the town’s main cultural assets and is an important part of the “Cultural Quarter”. Proposed redevelopment of the basement and the development of two extensions, increasing the overall space of the Gallery by almost 200%.

As part of the “Cultural Quarter”, it has the potential for a number of cultural and creative uses which would tie in with Woodend and the Rotunda Potential uses could be extra managed workspace for the creative and digital sector, recording and performance studios etc The site is currently on the market
Scarborough Maritime Heritage Centre
The Scarborough Maritime Heritage Group is looking to develop a Maritime Heritage Centre within the current St. Thomas Church Hall just off Sandside The development would provide this new Centre and improve the building Early meetings have been held with the Council and a business case and site development options are been explored

Station Square
Station Square was originally identified as a key public realm site for improvements within Kissing Sleeping Beauty.
The intention is to look at redeveloping the whole Square in order to improve the transport and pedestrian connections and to also create an attractive gateway into Scarborough.
The Council has commissioned consultants to produce a master plan for the redevelopment of the Square. The first phase of this process, a stakeholder consultation report and indicative urban design studies has now been completed.
