To the Reader
Thank you for taking the time to consider the work in this portfolio and the person that it represents.
I hope that you will find, represented herewith, that my experience as a professional and as a student have sharpened my skills of organization, coordination, and architectural representation sufficiently to make a positive contribution to your team.
Having served in the capacity of a draftsperson, a contract writer, a junior designer, and a small project team leader, I’ve developed an appreciation for the importance of effectively organizing such information as project goals, physical context, timing, and economy to contribute value to the project team.
Whether operating at the level of the intricate detail or the gestural sketch, I seek to understand, implement, and properly communicate goals and objectives appropriately for the project at hand.
With gratitude for your consideration, I am: Respectfully Yours,
Daniel Dillow, AAIA M.Arch Taliesin - The Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture H 412 407 2739 C 214 704 6005 E [email protected]

While a student at Taliesin - The Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture, I was invited to participate in the restoration of the studio wing of the Hillside Building as a student construction team captain.
The 18-month project included rebuilding a 1500 square foot historic roof according to structural detailing that had been developed in-house, the restoration of eight bedrooms, and a $17,000 contemporary renovation of a shower/lavatory that had reached the end of its serviceability.
Over the life of the project I maintained communication with six project stakeholders to reach consensus on goals and budget. I maintained on-site observation of the construction process to ensure coordination between construction teams, and I directed a team of drafters in the development of historic and as-build documentation of the project.

“This studio aims to develop student ability to produce an architecture project informed by a comprehensive program, form schematic design through the detailed development of programmatic spaces, structural and environmental systems, life-safety provisions, wall sections, and building assemblies, as may be appropriate; and to assess the completed project with respect to the programs design criteria. The building is a mixeduse, multi-story building in an urban context. Students will develop the design through the required criteria and graphic standards that best demonstrate student ability in comprehensive design and systems integration.”
