BAY AREA SHOWDOWN: The Dodgers tonight begin a
four-game series against their National League West rivals,
the San Francisco Giants, to finish their seven-game road trip.
Los Angeles avoided its first series sweep of the season
yesterday, after rallying for six runs in the fifth inning to
comeback and win 6-2 over the Diamondbacks. Following the
four-game set in the Bay Area, the Dodgers will return home for
a six-game homestand against the Philadelphia Phillies and the
San Francisco Giants.
The Dodgers look to snap a five-game losing streak in
San Francisco, their longest losing streak since dropping
seven consecutive games in the Bay Area from April 21-
Sept. 28, 2015.
Los Angeles lost the 2016 season series 8-11 against the
Giants, including a 2-8 mark at AT&T Park for their
second straight season.
ROMO RETURNS: Dodger reliever Sergio Romo, who signed
a one-year contract with the club, returns to his old stomping
grounds tonight after spending his first nine seasons with the
Giants (2008-16). In 515 games with San Francisco, Romo posted
a 32-26 record with a 2.58 ERA and 84 saves. He ranks seventh
in Giants franchise history in saves and his 498 strikeouts were
the second-most by a reliever in club history behind only Gary
Lavelle. He won World Series titles in 2010, 2012 and 2014 with
the Giants and has a career 3-1 record with four saves and a 3.09
ERA in 27 postseason appearances. Romo was selected by San
Francisco in the 28th round of the 2005 First-Year Player Draft.
