GIS continuously updates its infrastructure and hardware platforms, designing them to be efficient, secure, robust and scalable to accommodate future growth. GIS is committed to meeting client needs in a world of constantly evolving technology.
The GIS Video Conferencing Platform is Robust and Reliable
GIS manages and maintains a first class, technological platform and network infrastructure that delivers the highest quality, reliability and security in the industry. It is fully redundant, including dual video platforms and networks housed in multiple, “fortress-like” data centers. The technology is managed, monitored and maintained 24 x 7 x 365 by GIS staff.
GIS operates an extensive, combined Avaya Scopia platform from which hosted video services are provided. Continued investments will be made on the Scopia platform as we believe it to be the most open, extensible and competitive platform in the market today.
We continuously update our infrastructure and hardware platforms, designing them to be efficient, secure, robust and scalable to accommodate our client’s growth and video adoption.

The GIS NetworkThe GIS network has been engineered to deliver the highest speed, accessibility, reliability and redundancy. The platform is fully redundant from end to end and is comprised of dual Ethernet connections. These connections span a completely redundant/fault tolerant infrastructure all the way from the GIS core routers and ring-protected Packet over Sonet (POS) fiber network, to the multiple, geographically diverse data centers.
Because GIS data centers are peering sites for most of the largest network carriers, GIS customers have the option to connect directly to the network of choice. By selecting this option, a company will eliminate the unpredictability of the Internet and ultimately increase the speed and reliability of its video conferencing solution.
Network performance testing is continuously conducted to ensure that GIS customers receive the greatest quality of service available. GIS routinely measures network performance for availability, latency and continuity.

GIS Hosted Locations and InfrastructureAll of the GIS video conferencing technology is strategically housed in multiple data centers, to achieve Geo Redundancy. These data centers serve as major peering points for the most recognized global WAN and ISP carriers, providing the optional advantage of connecting directly to the network of choice.
The data center facilities are designed to meet the rigorous standards and compliance needs of global businesses. GIS works with several regulatory and standards organizations to ensure compliance—from operation of the data center to sustainability and environmental regulations. The data centers are:
SSAE16 Compliant The SSAE16 audit minimizes the need for multiple sets of auditors to separately examine the same set of controls that govern a third party’s services. “SAS” is an acronym for Statement on Auditing Standards, which are issued by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. The completion of SSAE16 SOC-1 Type II audits for the data centers varies by location and facility in the United States.
ISO Certified ISO is the world’s largest developer and publisher of International Standards. ISO certification means that GIS can offer products and services which meet and exceed the specifications of customers by implementing the quality, safety, security, environmental and energy management standards with the widest possible acceptance.

Data Center EnvironmentAs a Tier 1 Platform, the data centers receive power from multiple power substations, giving additional fault tolerance in case of disaster. In addition, they feature fully-integrated UPS, which provides protection against primary power failures and surges, as well as variations in power-line frequency and voltage.
Physical Security: The data centers have an array of security equipment, techniques, and procedures to control, monitor, and record access to the facility, including customer cage areas.
All areas of the centers are monitored and recorded using CCTV, and all access points are controlled. Every location is staffed with 24-hour security officers. Visitors are screened upon entry to verify identity, and escorted to appropriate locations. Access history is recorded for audit by customers.
The GIS network is engineered to provide redundancy throughout the data center. All connections run across a completely redundant/fault tolerant infrastructure from the core routers and the ring-protected Packet over Sonet (POS) fiber network, to our multiple, geographically diverse peering points.
