From Your Pastor Easter Preparedness
I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can
do nothing. John 15:5
I’m excited about Easter. I love holy week and taking some extra time to reflect back on the final days of our Lord’s life before He went to the cross. I don’t want to just go through the Easter season without being intentional about sharing the good news of what Christ accom-plished for us on the cross and His resurrection from the grave. Easter is not about bragging about how many we have in our services, it is about the Gospel going out to as many as possible and God bringing some from darkness into His glorious light. Last week, Thom Rainer (President of Lifeway) wrote an article called “Nine Considerations for Church Members this Easter.” Since Easter is usually the highest attended day of the year and there will be more guests that usual, I think it is important for us to consider these “nine servant actions” we can take on Easter (April 16th):
1. Pray as you enter the property. Pray for the guests. Pray for the services. Pray for the pastor and the sermon.
2. Park at the most distant spot available. Save the closer parking places for guests.
3. Greet people. They may be guests. They may be members. It’s okay to introduce yourself to either.
4. Look for people to help. You know the place well. Many others will not. Be a guide. Help someone who looks like he or she needs help.
5. Sit as close as possible to the front of the worship center. Save the back rows for guests and late entrants, so they don’t have to walk past so many people.
6. Sit in the middle. Don’t claim that aisle seat where people have to walk over you or past you.
7. Sit closely. Your worship center may be packed. If so, be willing to sit cheek to cheek.
8. Volunteer to serve. As the number of attendees increase, so does the need for volunteers. The parking team, kids ministry, and church greeter ministry are a few of the areas that will need more volun-teers to help serve and minister to members and guests.
9. Pray as you leave. The Holy Spirit is likely working in many persons who attended. Pray for His continual work of conviction and comfort.
These are simple acts. They are acts of service. And if you survive doing these acts of kindness and service on Easter, you just might be able to do them on other days of worship as well. We will have two services on Easter: 8:30 AM and 10:00 AM. We will have a grab and go breakfast from 9:30-9:50AM. We will have a special kid’s Easter service in the Youth room at 10:00 AM. Let’s invite our community and come prayed up for God to be exalted and draw men, women, boys and girls to Himself! Pray now! Bro Harold

MAKING DISCIPLES… (Questions kids ask)
Question: When God created the earth, were the trees fully grown, or were they baby trees? If they were full grown, did they have growth rings?
Answer: And the earth brought forth grass, the herb that yields seed according to its kind, and the tree that yields fruit, whose seed is in itself according to its kind. And God saw that it was good (Genesis 1:12).
Well, let’s see. We know by our Bible verse that the trees in the Garden provided fruit for food. And we know that Adam and Eve could eat the fruit from the trees ex-cept one. They didn’t need to wait for years for the trees to grow big enough to pro-duce fruit, did they? It seems that God created the trees to sprout, grow and bear fruit all in one day. I do believe that the trees had growth rings, for a couple of reasons. First, they were fully grown trees to start with, and most grown trees have growth rings. Second, the growth rings of many trees are actually part of the structure of the tree and support the tree. Some trees would need those growth rings to stand tall and produce fruit for Adam and Eve. So the growth rings were part of what made these trees perfect and very good, like the rest of God’s creation.
