T he Postgraduate school of Fountain
University, Osogbo may take off any
time from now. This is however subject
to the approval of the National Universi-
ty Commission (NUC) whose delegation
came for a resource visit on Monday 2nd
November.
Led by Mrs. Mojisola Morebise, the nine-
man team examined both human and
material resources of the University for
commencement of postgraduate pro-
grammes in Political Science, Economics,
Industrial Chemistry, Microbiology Bio-
chemistry and Nutrition, and Computer
Science
In a chat with the Dean of the PG School,
Prof. Goke Lalude, he said even though the
University regulatory body holds the pre-
rogative to approve or do otherwise, he
was optimistic that the report would be
positive.
Earlier, some alumni of the University had
been seeking enquiries on when the PG

Ademola Raji has formally welcomed
all students and staff back on campus
saying all hands must be on deck to
achieve the objectives of the founding
fathers of the university.
He said the university has just
strengthened the man power of the univer-
sity by engaging two new professors, three
Ph.D. holders and other academic and non-
academic staff members. He therefore en-
joined the entire staff of the university to
perform their duties effectively and take
special interest in mentoring both student
and staff as part of our shared values
agreed upon at the June 2015 Staff Retreat.

Meanwhile, Prof. A.T Lawal and Prof. Ab-
dul Lateef Uthman have emerged as Con-
gregation Representatives to the Universi-
ty Governing Council. The two professors
from CONAS and COMAS respectively
were elected in a keenly contested elec-
tion. Similarly, the senate had earlier
elected four other senior academics to
represent the Senate at the Governing
Council for 2015/2017 tenure. The elected
senators include Dr. Belau Gbadamosi, the

2015/2016 session on Tuesday, 27
October, 2015 at the Eti Osa Lecture
Theatre. During the congregation,
members were elected to represent
the university community at the coun-
cil.
In his opening speech, the Vice Chan-
cellor, Prof. Bashir Ademola Raji, wel-
comed all members of congregation
and set the tone for the business of
the day by putting the issues for con-

DON DECLARES HIJRAH CALENDAR MANDATORY ON ALL MUSLIMS
M uslims have been urged to
observe adherence to the
Lunar Calendar in the administra-
tion and organization of their indi-
vidual and corporate affairs.
This call was made by Prof. Abdul-
Kareem Hussein at a prayer session
organized by Fountain University,
Osogbo to usher in the 2015/2016
Academic Session. The professor of
Microbiology and Islamic cleric em-
phasized that the adoption of Hi-
jrah calendar by Muslim individuals
and establishments was rather a
divine commandment than recom-
mendation.
Earlier during the divine consulta-
tion session held at the directive of
the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Bashir
Ademola Raji to put all affairs of
the university in Allah’s control, the
Chief Imam of the University, Dr.
Abdul-‘Azeez Adedimeji who led
the Imam-in-Council to officiate the
prayer session said such thanks-
giving session came at the right
time in the life of the university. “A
time when the university achieved a co-
lossal growth of full accreditation in all its
programmes and Full Operational License
by the National Universities Commission
(NUC) coupled with the passing away of
an academic of international standing,
Prof. Hakeem Ishola Mobolaji required
prayer and thanks-giving”, the Imam said.
The prayer with a segment dedicated to
the souls of Late Prof. Mobolaji, Dean
College of Management and Social Sci-
ences till his death; Late Engr. Bello,
former Chief Engineer of the university
and the well-being of their families was
well attended by the staff of the univer-
sity including the principal officers: the
Vice Chancellor, Prof. B.A Raji; the Reg-
istrar, Alh. M.O Olanrewaju; the Acting
Bursar, Alh. Silifat Alli-Balogun; the Uni-
versity Librarian, Dr. B.O Gbadamosi;
Dean, Postgraduate School, Prof. Goke
Lalude and the Dean of College of Natu-
ral and Applied Sciences, Dr. O.B Bello.

Osogbo, Dr Ridwan Adeyemi has
enjoined students of the department
to focus on acquiring relevant skills
and adding values to themselves rather
than being distracted by money and
materialism.
He said this during the 300L students
internship defence held at Eti – Osa
Lecture Theatre on Thursday, the 5th
of November, 2015. He also advised
the 100 and 200 levels students to
emulate their predecessors who made
the department proud during their
internship at various media
organisations in the country.
According to reports and evidences
brought by the students, some of them
were promised employment in various
media organisations after their gradua-
tion from the university.
All staffs and students of the department
who attended the programme believed it
was a good initiative which must be sus-
tained.
