Land Settlements

•Flood / Liquefaction settlements occurring•Payments can vary from very modest to significant

•Contact EQC if you are unsure•Difficult to challenge due to extremely complex calculations

•EQC not following High Court guidance where repair of land possible and intended

•Be wary of assigning to insurer if uncertain

Limitation

• Don’t panic• Almost all insurers are acting reasonably (for good reason)

• EQC’s position less clear•Limitation “runs from the date of settlement”

• Seek clarity from EQC / insurer•Template letters available

• Non ICNZ insurers should be contacted directly

Petition: Update

•The petition asked for a royal commission on earthquake repairs and other issues.

•Over 3000 physical signatures were obtained•It was handed over to Andrew Little and Megan Woods on 8 April

•Tabled in parliament •Referred to Finance and Expenditure select committee
