Ÿ All presenters including Faculty must be registered for the conference.

Ÿ Presenters will project an initial slide titled “Conflict of interest”. This slide is

compulsory and may state “None to declare” in case he speaker/matter being

presented have not been financed/supported in any way by a company.

stŸ Send all the abstracts to Conference Secretariat before 1 December, 2017.

Ÿ All the papers / abstracts must be original, unpublished work of the author. Send

the abstracts in a prescribed format only. The format is common for all types of

presentations.

Ÿ The abstracts should have formal headings i.e. Title (in block letters), Aims &

Objectives, Material and Method, Results and Discussion, Conclusion.

Ÿ The text of abstract should not exceed 300 words.

Ÿ The abstract should be in “Arial” font in 12 point size.

Ÿ Please submit 3 copies of the abstract by post and email a copy to

masicon2018@gmail.com

Ÿ Computer, Multimedia project with PowerPoint 2007 will be made available I all the

halls. No other facility is guaranteed.

Ÿ The presentation is to be uploaded on the previous day for the morning session

(upto lunch) and by 10 am for the evening session. The preview room will upload

your presentation on the main frame computer. Please confirm that your

presentation including video runs on the mainframe. No provision is made for own

laptop presentation.

Ÿ Last minute uploading is discouraged and may not be allowed.

Ÿ In case of problems, the in-charge of Hall allotment will have the final say.

Ÿ The Organizing Committee reserves the right to change the schedule in case of

unforeseen circumstances.

Ÿ Free podium presentations have a time of 8 minutes and 2 minutes are allotted for

discussion. The presentation will be blanked out at the end of 8 minutes.

Ÿ Papers submitted without accompanying registration form and delegate fees will

not be considered. No refund will be given to presenters where the abstracts have

been posted for presentation.

Ÿ The State Chapter of ASI has decided to keep a record of defaulters and the author

may not be allowed to present in subsequent MASICON conferences.

Ÿ The papers submitted under the category, if considered unsuitable, may be offered a

place in the podium presentation category.

FOR BEST PAPERŸ The presenting author should be clearly defined (underlined), be below 40 years of

age at the time of presentation (January 28, 2018)

Ÿ Best paper should be submitted along with a manuscript that will be considered for

publication in the Indian Journal of Surgery. Acceptance for presentation in the best

paper category does not however, guarantee publication of the paper, which will

undergo a peer review.

Ÿ The work should not have been presented/published/under consideration for

publication anywhere in media or medical literature.

Ÿ Strict evaluation criteria will be adhered to :

Ÿ The content or core idea should be original, relevant to practice of surgery in India,

innovation and valid.

Ÿ Ethics committee certification in case of Medical Colleges is mandatory.

Ÿ In case of best private/Nursing Home set up, necessary guidelines, permissions are

necessary.

Ÿ In case of best paper / video presentation, the presentation be restricted to 8 minute

after which the presentation will be turned off and the presenter will have to stop.

The chairman shall take over the rights at this stage.

Ÿ Two minutes are allotted for discussion but may extend depending on the paper.

The rights to extension will rest with the chairman of the session.

Ÿ Evaluation criteria:

a) Originality: 40%^ B) Technical strength: 40% C) Presentation 20%

Ÿ The details are given to the judges who in their capacity will judge the

papers/video/poster.

Ÿ The award-winning paper will be invited for presentation at the National Conference

of the Association of Surgeons of India in the Best Paper – State Chapter Category.

FOR BEST VIDEOŸ Those proposing to submit in the best video session should :

Ÿ Send a copy of DVD in MPEG2 format for review. Open with WMP/VLC format

Ÿ Should not be more than 8 minutes.

PAYMENT DETAILS

All requests for cancellation of registration and accommodation must be sent in writing & must be accompanied by the original to the conference secretariat.

Deduction of the charges will be as follows:

Cancellation on or before September 15, 2017 25% of registration & accommodation charges will be deducted

Cancellation on or before December 15, 2017 50% of registration & accommodation charges will be deducted

Cancellation after December 15, 2017 100% of registration & accommodation charges will be deducted
