Managed Connectivity
• For Innovative services to turn into reality we
need to manage BOTH the Apps and the
Connectivity.
• We should stop avoiding the heavy task of
managing connectivity. The pubic internet is just
not reliable enough, and unlikely to ever be.
• So… How do we manage connectivity?
• Well… We’ve been doing it for years. We’re just
doing it a bit too slow for the needs of virtual
services (but we’ll get to that shortly).

Where do we spend our innovation efforts?
• ONAP – Solves a single domain problem.
• ONOS – Solves a single domain problem.
• CORD – Solves a single domain problem.
• ETSI – Solves a single domain problem.
• Most of the current innovation efforts are spent solving North-
South (Single-Domain) issues, providing multiple approaches
to solving very similar problems.
• Very little innovation efforts are spent solving East-West
(Inter-Carrier/Inter-Domain) issues.
