HDPE’s technical and mechanical properties - High Density Polyethylene is a firm and strong plastic. It’s mass density can range from 0.93 to 0.97 g/cm
3, making it lighter than water. HDPE is
much tougher than household plastics, resistant to water and chemicals. HDPE is resistant to freezing and even not effected when the liquid it contains gets frozen. Both on high and low temperatures of the environment, HDPE’s feel is always comfortable.
HDPE’s boatbuilding properties - The
mechanical properties on impact and tension
make HDPE very suitable for boatbuilding. It’s
durability and very low sensitivity to aging and
corrosion make the technical lifecycle HDPE
boats much higher than those of boats made of
any other materials. It is easier to assemble
HDPE than steel, wood, aluminium or other
composite materials. Polyethylene has of course
the anti-corrosion advantage. HDPE is non-toxic,
easy to clean and water and dirt repellent. HDPE
boats do not require painting or any care,
especially the toxic cares.

Developing a specific design, or adjusting a design for length, width or other specs is easy for us and quickly translated to our builders, without high starting costs. HDPE is strong, lighter than water and resistant to water, chemicals and freezing. Boats come in black. Designs – DutchWorkboats has already
developed several designs in HDPE, varying from
small open workboats to pontoons and a small
cable foot ferry. Length, width and specific fittings
are always to your requirements and easily fit into
the designs. Each boat may differ from the last
one. HDPE products form DutchWorkboats are
designed for demanding working environments,
where the need for good technical and
operational properties exceeds the demand for
aesthetics. The small open workboats feature
single or self-bailing floors and outboard engines.
Location of console and engine are made to your
requirements. The working pontoons may have
an engine mount, lifting eyes and rubber deck.
