Mrs. Johnson’s Newsletter October 1, 2018 Activity Fund- Please remember to send in $25 for kindergarten Activity Fund if you haven’t done so already. You can pay online by going to the SWE website. It is there on the home page. If you don’t want to pay online, you can send cash or a check made payable to SWE. Apples-Please send in 2-3 apples tomorrow if you haven’t done so already. It doesn’t matter what color or type. We will be doing several activities this week with them and then use them to make apple sauce on Friday. Reading-We will be reading fictions books about Johnny Appleseed. We wll be focusing on characters of stories. We will also be reading non-fiction books about apples. Math-This week we are continuing to compare numbers up to 10. Which number is more/less? Why? Science-This week we will be learning about shape, color, and texture by using apples. We will also make applesauce on Friday with our apples and review what we learned about our 5 senses from last week. This Week’s Focus Specials Schedule Monday-PE Tuesday-Art Wednesday-Music Thursday-PE Friday-Computers Oct. 5 th -PTO Pay to Play Enchanted Forest Oct. 8 th -No School Oct. 9 th -No School-Professional Development for Staff Oct. 11 th -Academic Night 5:30-7:30 (more info to come). Oct. 23 rd -No School-Parent Conferences Nov. 2 nd -Boosterthon Fun Run Practice letters and sounds daily if your child still hasn’t mastered them. Say a word and have your child identify the beginning sound. Say two words and have your child tell you if those words rhyme or not. Practice writing numbers 1-10. Practice weekly sight words. Please make sure that you are reading with your child for at least 15 minutes a night. Your child not only needs to read (if he/she is capable) but he/she needs to be able to hear books being read fluently and with intonation. Dates to Remember Things to Do at Home
