The Society Today -Compiled by Pradeep Gurung, D2MPM

Time has arrived where parents get scolding’s from their children due to their illiteracy and lack of knowledge about present situation. They are ignored, disrespected and tortured by their otherwise lovely sons and daughters. Today the children are not able to help their parents but the parents have crossed all the hurdles to accomplish goals of their children. Commitment in marriage lives have decreased drastically. The divorce cases are increasing day by day due to external affairs. Despite being married, people often get involved in illicit relationship, undermining implication in the future society. Time that one should be spending with family members are wasted in unhealthy practices such as taking alcohol, hanging with friends and doing illegal activities. Such unhealthy practices result in disharmony of a family. Corruption grows as fast as anti-corruption commission's hard work increases to terminate it. The boss and the subordinates are in war of accusing each other for corrupting which deterio-rates their working condition and gradually it gets ruined. Family values are getting influenced by exposure to various cultures. The parents-child relationship is declining and gap between them has gone far and so is the student-teacher relationship. The society today is full of problems such as disrespect to the parents, divorce cases and cor-ruption. The cause of such problems cannot be blamed to one another rather it is important that we realize our roles and responsibility in a society. If everyone is responsible to what they ought to do then many of such problems would be solved.

Move for Health -Pradeep Gurung, D2MPM

In commemoration with Birth Anniversary of Gyalsey this year on 5th February, the Ministry of Health organized a show at clock tower. The theme of the show was “Move for Health” where various dignitaries from across the world participated. In the event various cultural dances were performed. The dignitaries talked about the im-portance of health to the hundreds of audience. Lyonchen Tshering Tobgay addressed that,” The health and medicine services was free till today and this won’t be spoiled by current gov-ernment and either it shall be destroyed by upcoming government.” Health facility that has been recently adopted are radio therapy, helicopter services and free medication services for the abroad treatment. Lyonchen also said that, “Bhutan is the only country where free health facilities are provided by the government therefore it is important for the people to realize the value of their health”.

The health facilities that are provided must not be wasted.

Its important for everyone to have their health taken care. Many dignitaries shared that people suffer from life style diseases. Regular exercise might help one to remain healthy instead of getting accustomed to modern ways of living by simply relying upon technology for every

purpose.

The show ended with lucky draw where everyone was eager to know the result. The show was organized to create the awareness of importance of health.

Prayer to Ugyen Jungwa Zhi —Compiled by Sonam Lhamo, D2MPM With shocking waves shaking the wobbly knees, And fault line cracking across my back. In falling apart of hepatic shops, May tremor rock this fool to sleep.

For Vulcan cone is heartless doll. Eruption of her filthy words, Noxious fames above her rise. Magma of lies flow in waves.

As river of passion rages and drowns The Lams, Khandoms and fishes too. When the rescuer fails to save own self. Raise us from this ‘Khorwa’ in flood.

.

POEM

Jigme Namgyel Engineering College -Pradeep Gurung, D2MPM Many had come and gone, But the memories has not been forgotten. In the high hills of bliss, Lies the alter of happiness. Like the fast flowing river, The time has gone forever. Yet the wisdom offered, Last ever and ever. Situated in east, The college is vast. Educating the number of young minds, For the development of its kinds. Summer is full of rain, Yet learners wont mind taking pain. For the pain turns into gain, With the development of insane. Winter is cold, So does the student s hold. With their hopes so bold, With the objectives to uphold.

Civil engineers are so fond, With the developing bond. Electrical engineers play with electricity, With the objectives developing city. There are several machine lover, Turning them a mechanical engineer. While the measurement lover, Turns to be a surveyor. Development of modern technology, Calls students to learn Information Technology. While the need for procurement profession, Calls the nations attention. With the varied knowledge , Students prefer coming college. As soon as the graduation, The engineers would serve the nation.

Hold us lord, with net of forgiveness. Save us lord, with the hook of compassion.
