I miss you. During the week I am here praying, signing checks, and having occasional meetings by conference call or some form of video chat, but it is sad how empty everything feels. I absolutely know that we are united in Christ, but I also long to see and hear all of you. We are not sure how long this lock down is going to last or in what stages we will be allowed to return to ‘normal’. We will keep posting information as it becomes available on our website. Until the next steps come, keep checking on each other, keeping praying, and if you can, get out and take a walk. If you absolutely need something, call the parish office and leave a message. They are being checked. St. Casimir Closing This week St. Casimir Parish Council voted to close the parish at the end of the fiscal year, which is June 30, 2020. Many of you know first-hand how devastating losing your parish can be. Please keep them in your prayers. With the lock down we will be still working on ways we can help the parishioners to enter into the transition. Regardless of how long the lockdown continues, St. Casimir will reopen so that it can gather, celebrate and grieve properly. Live Streaming We have begun Live Streaming Sunday Masses at St. Casimir as well. Holy week was the first foray into that field and I am grateful that we still have Fr. David with us who celebrated all those Masses. We will continue Live Streaming at both parishes so you will see one of us here at the Cathedral and one of us at St. Casimir. Many of you have sent notes or emails expressing your appreciation for these Masses. I am glad that they are helping you move through these uncomfortable days. Hopefully they will not last for too many more weeks. Parish and DSA Giving Thank you to everyone who is continuing to either mail in your offering or to give online. Every dollar helps. We are continuing to pay our employees during this time. As a parish we have enough to weather this storm, but every little bit will help us on the other end as we move forward. The Diocesan Services Appeal is still underway. They have bills to pay also. You can give online at the Diocesan website or mail in a donation or pledge to the parish. DSA is a good cause and most of us have it in our budget every year. I hope you will continue to support the work of the diocese. Pray for us, loving Mother, and gain for our nation and world, and for all our families and loved ones, the protection of your holy angels, that we may be spared the worst of this illness. For those already afflicted, we ask you to obtain the grace of healing and deliverance. Hear the cries of those who are vulnerable and fearful, wipe away their tears and help them to trust. In this time of trial and testing, teach all of us in the Church to love one another and to be patient and kind. Help us to bring the peace of Jesus to our land and to our hearts. We come to you with confidence, knowing that you truly are our compassionate mother, health of the sick and cause of our joy. Shelter us under the mantle of your protection, keep us in the embrace of your arms, help us always to know the love of your Son, Jesus. Amen.
