Billecart-Salmon Brut NV Region: Champagne, France

Varieties: Pinot Noir, Chardonnay & Pinot Meunier Style: All Rounder

Notes: Why is it year after year Billecart-Salmon is consistently one of our top selling Champagnes?

It’s simple, the non-vintage Billecart-Salmon offers the best of both worlds with complexity and delicacy,

making it perfect for any occasion. This quality makes it easy for us to sell, and even easier to enjoy.

The outstanding value while the Aussie dollar is struggling helps too!

BUY ONLINE $75ea $67.50 per mixed 6

Ayala Brut Majeur NVRegion: Champagne, France

Varieties: Chardonnay 40%, Pinot Noir 40% & Pinot Meunier 20%

Style: Fresh & Modern

Notes: From a house with over 150 years of history and still family owned, comes this truly modern Champagne. Elegance and freshness are the keywords here. Low dosage, quality fruit and 3 years lees ageing

making for a delicate expression of brioche and poached pear. Perfect as an aperitif but dry enough to come

alive with seafood or a cheese plate.

BUY ONLINE $80ea $72 per mixed 6

Gosset Grande Reserve Champagne NV

Region: Champagne, France Varieties: Chardonnay 43%, Pinot Noir 42%

& Pinot Meunier 15% Style: Food Friendly

Notes: While Champagne is often considered an aperitif or to drink just for a celebration, the right

cuvee can also pair very well with food. That customary brioche nose has an air of freshly risen pizza dough, lemon trees and nettles. The palate still shows that trademark crunch with a fuller bodied mouth-feel

but with youthful appeal, thanks to a calm persistent freshness.

BUY ONLINE $90ea $81 per mixed 6

Ruinart Blanc de Blancs NV Region: Champagne, France

Variety: Chardonnay Style: Polished & Poised

Notes: Consistently one of the most popular Blanc de Blancs on the market, the Ruinart is always sought after and not just because of the cool bottle. There is a blend of grace and refinement in this bottle. A strikingly polished

Champagne presenting aromas of freshly toasted croissants with notes of apples and striking floral nuances. A soft creamy mousse flows on the palate with a perfect

balance and freshness right through to the finish.

BUY ONLINE $99ea $89.10 per mixed 6

Marchand & Burch Cremant de Bourgogne Brut Blanc NV

Region: Burgundy, France Winemakers: Pascal Marchand

Style: Picnic Bubbles

Notes: Grab a bottle of this, pack your picnic basket and head for your favourite park; satisfaction is guaranteed! Out of the glass you can smell duck pâté, with juniper

berry jelly, spread generously over lavosh. A rich, creamy, textural palate with distinctive citrus fruits and a fine finish

that rivals many Champagnes. The perfect match with a roast chicken sandwich? We think so.

BUY ONLINE $32ea $28.80 per mixed 6

Deviation Road ‘Loftia’ 2013 Region: Adelaide Hills, SA Winemaker: Kate Laurie

Varieties: 70% Chardonnay & 30% Pinot Noir Style: Again & Again

Notes: The Deviation Road sparkling wines are no strangers to our summer catalogue. You just can’t deny Kate’s expertise in creating exceptional bubbles. Green apples and fresh grapes from the green grocer, with that great oyster shell character you expect from France. The palate is crisp and crunchy, showing baked apples dusted

with cinnamon. Oysters and Loftia = Good times!

BUY ONLINE $40ea $36 per mixed 6

5

Daosa Blanc de Blancs 2011 Region: Adelaide Hills, SA

Winemakers: Xavier and Lucy Bizot Variety: Chardonnay

Style: Charming

Notes: Quite often when we talk about great Sparkling wines the common thread is they look varietal. Whether it be a blend, straight Chardonnay, Pinot Noir or even Pinot Meunier when your sparkling wine speaks of the grape,

you’re off to a good start. This year’s Daosa, looks, smells and tastes like a very, very good Chardonnay. It displays

all the classic brioche and oyster shell charisma all tied up with precision and understated citrus fruits. Very impressive.

BUY ONLINE $56ea $50.40 per mixed 6

42 Degrees South Premier Cuvee Sparkling NV

Region: Coal River Valley, TAS Winemakers: Alain Rousseau & John Bown

Varieties: 90% Chardonnay & 10% Pinot Noir Style: Tremendous Tassie

Notes: There really is something very unique about Tasmanian sparkling wine. The cool climate allows

Chardonnay and Pinot Noir to ripen perfectly, allowing full flavours while maintaining great freshness from natural acidity. Here we have a lovely example, classic toasty notes

spring from the glass paired with moreish chalky texture and flavours of quince. It’s the lovely acid line that holds

this all together in such a charming manner.

BUY ONLINE $22ea $19.80 per mixed 6

NV Guerrieri Rizzardi Prosecco Region: Veneto, Italy

Style: So Fresh & So Clean & So Dry

Notes: Focused and calm fruit alludes to a vibrant, dry palate that delivers clean and fresh

peaches and melons, with a revitalising crisp, citrus finish. Absolute top quality Prosecco, that will get the party bubbling and the conversation flowing – Italian

style. There are numerous reasons why Prosecco's popularity continues to grow, and fresh, easy

examples like this are facilitating the evolution.

BUY ONLINE $24ea $21.60 per mixed 6

Redbank Prosecco 2014 Region: King Valley, VIC

Winemaker: Teresa Heuzenroeder Style: Summer Sessions

Notes: It came as no surprise that the team at Redbank could produce a fantastic Prosecco. Their history with

Italian varieties from King Valley is so strong and they’ve always made great bubbles. White flower botanicals

start things off and the palate is clean and oh so fresh with just a tiny hint of candied lemon and green apples.

Fresh bay leaf works its way into the fray to add a savoury element too. You’ll keep going back for more.

BUY ONLINE $19ea $17.10 per mixed 6

7

Black Chook Sparkling Shiraz NV Region: South Australia

Winemaker: Alexia Roberts Style: Turkey Time

Notes: Christmas lunch just wouldn’t be the same without it… Like Pinot Noir and Duck, Riesling and

Dumplings, there is something about Roast Turkey and Sparkling Shiraz. The Black Chook is opulent and luscious and whilst the base of this wine is 3-5 year old Shiraz aged

in barrels, they also use some younger fruit that adds brightness and succulence to the palate.

BUY ONLINE $19ea $17.10 per mixed 6

Shingleback Black Bubbles NV Region: McLaren Vale, SA

Winemaker: John Davey & Dan Hills Style: Aussie Classic

Notes: Sparkling Shiraz is one of the silent champions of the Australian Wine industry. It’s a wine

we produce like no other country and quietly cherished by many. The key is to start with a great Shiraz as your

base, this helps to add the complexity and dryness any good Sparkling Red needs. Flavours of blackberry

jam spread on toasted croissants; there’s a decadence to this wine but all in balance.

BUY ONLINE $26ea $23.40 per mixed 6

Yes we are still going on about how much we love Riesling and we’re never going to stop.

Whilst the Sav Blanc and Gris avalanche continues, the wines are getting smarter and more refined. Strong value imports continue to impress and there is no doubt Australian Chardonnays are

now leaders on the world stage.

Greywacke Sauvignon Blanc 2014 Region: Marlborough, New Zealand

Winemakers: Kevin Judd & Richard Ellis Style: Fush & Chups Please

Notes: Kevin’s history with the famous Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is iconic to say the least. The movement he started as winemaker at Cloudy Bay to his first release of Greywacke in 2009, his wines have been benchmarks

not just for the region but for the variety. The ’14 is another triumph, a refreshing style packed with big flavours on the palate of melons, cassis and capsicum delivered in succulent

fashion and fantastic length. Arvos on the beach with fish and chips, locked in…

BUY ONLINE $27ea $24.30 per mixed 6

SC Pannell Sauvignon Blanc 2015 Region: Adelaide Hills

Winemaker: Stephen Pannell Style: Aromatic & Complex

Notes: Steve Pannell is an absolute Australian wine legend, his winemaking history so studded with accolades, yet he’s stronger than ever, picking up awards and trophies left, right and centre right now. This is very smart Adelaide Hills savvy, showing such complex aromatics of fresh

green herbs, tropical fruits and crisp grapefruity acidity. With enough textural intrigue on the palate to turn this

into a serious contender for the region’s finest.

BUY ONLINE $28ea $25.20 per mixed 6

Lost Buoy Sauvignon Blanc 2015

Region: Adelaide Hills, SA Winemaker: Phil Christiansen

Style: Easy Going Beach White

Notes: The reds from Lost Buoy Wines are sourced from vineyards right next to the sea in Port Willunga.

They are the closest vineyards to the sea in Australia, within 50 metres of the cliff edge, just above the crashing waves of the great southern ocean. Although this Savvy comes from the Hills, it is right on the border of McLaren Vale

in Kuitpo Forest, an area also influenced by the sea. This certainly shows a delicacy of fruit and freshness

thanks to this factor. It’s super good value too!

BUY ONLINE $18ea $16.20 per mixed 6

Clos Clare Riesling 2015 Region: Clare Valley, SA

Winemaker: Tom & Sam Barry Style: Delicious Now, Great for the Cellar too

Notes: We absolutely adore Riesling here at EEC, the fridges and shelves are always bursting with lovely examples of this noble variety from all

over the world. One rizza that’s a staff favourite every year is the delicious Clos Clare from the Barry brothers in Watervale. The ’15 has vibrant, bright aromatics with

white peaches and finger limes carrying through on the palate. Drink now or cellar, either way this is a

must buy for any lover of Riesling.

BUY ONLINE $28ea $25.20 per mixed 6

11

Vickery Eden Valley Riesling 2015 Region: Eden Valley, SA

Winemakers: John Vickery & Phil Lehmann Style: Floral & Pure

Notes: Last year we were thrilled when the “Father of Australian Riesling”, John Vickery released his first

wine under his own label. Not ones to sit back and relax, John and winemaker Phil Lehmann were already on the

search for the right Eden Valley vineyard to add a second Riesling to the label. This is absolute textbook Eden Valley Riesling, with clean white flowers on the nose, followed by lime juice and rockmelon on the palate.

Pure, easy and decidedly delicious.

BUY ONLINE $20ea $18 per mixed 6

Knappstein Hand-Picked Riesling 2015

Region: Clare Valley, SA Winemaker: Glenn Barry

Style: Calm, Cool & Easy Going

Notes: Often we see a winemaker’s personality shine through in their wines - and like the man himself, GB, this wine has a certain subtle charm to it. Aromatics of

nutmeg and dried fennel are alluring and enticing whilst a combination of apple pie and lime zest keep things going to a crisp and easy finish. This is super approachable and

rates ‘High to Extreme’ on the Smashability Scale.

BUY ONLINE $19ea $17.10 per mixed 6

12

Poderi dal Nespoli Pagadebit Bombino Bianco 2013

Region: Emilia Romagna, Italy Varieties: Bombino Bianco 90% & Sauvignon Blanc 10%

Style: Fragrant & Crisp

Notes: If you need two hands to count the number of Bombino Biancos you’ve tried, you’ve had more than us. This is the first Bombino on the shelves at EEC and while it’s not going to knock Chardonnay or Riesling off their pedestal any time soon, the Nespoli here is clean, crisp and refreshing. What else could you need from a $20

Italian white? Maybe an excuse to say “Bombino Bianco” in your worst Italian accent?

BUY ONLINE $20ea $18 per mixed 6

Chaffey Bros Düfte Punkt 2015 Region: Eden Valley, SA

Winemakers: Daniel Chaffey Hartwig Varieties: Gewürtztraminer, Riesling & Weißer Herold

Style: Dim Sum’s best buddy

Notes: Wonderful aromatics is an understatement here, this is about as alluring as you can imagine. Musk sticks,

rose petals, lychee, grapefruit, the list goes on. Once you’ve managed to stop smelling this, you’ll notice the

flavour isn’t too shabby either. The Gewürtz brings a voluptuous richness and the Riesling is there to keep it

all in check and tighten things up. Meanwhile the Weißer Herold, (also known as Kerner) adds the racy textural

component. Enjoy this with your next Asian feast.

BUY ONLINE $22ea $19.80 per mixed 6

Loimer Lois Grüner Veltliner 2014 Region: Niederösterreich, Austria

Winemaker: Fred Loimer Style: Seasoned to Perfection

Notes: A wine that can be this sophisticated, elegant and display a level of intricacy like this is a winner in our books. We don’t know Fred Loimer personally but his meticulous work in the vineyards to best reflect each

wine and his high standards and organic approach in the winery have us holding him in high regards. His wines

are pretty tasty too! Classic Grüner here, distinct notes of white pepper and preserved lemon, with a wonderful

texture and impressive weight, without feeling heavy.

BUY ONLINE $24ea $21.60 per mixed 6

La Prova Bianco 2015 Region: Adelaide Hills, SA

Winemaker: Sam Scott Style: Your New House White

Notes: Sam Scott’s La Prova label is responsible for some of the most inhalable wines coming out of SA right now. ‘Bianco’ is channelling the Italian

concept of the house white blend. This is obviously a big step up on what you’d find in a little Italian

Trattoria, with great quality fruit and some intelligent effort on the winemaking front, La Prova Bianco

is a belter for $20.

BUY ONLINE $20ea $18 per mixed 6

14

Winemaker: Paul Drogemuller & James Barry Style: Model Aussie Gris

Notes: Paul and Kathy Drogemuller continue to produce fantastic boutique wines out of the Adelaide

Hills, they’ve been welcome friends at EEC for years now and will be for many more years to come. This smart

number has become a favourite amid the rising Gris fans and for good reason… it’s quite tasty! Revealing the

classic fuller Gris textures and bursting with flavours of peach and poached pear with a touch of clove and allspice.

BUY ONLINE $20ea $18 per mixed 6

Txomin Etxaniz Txakoli 2014 Region: Getariako Txakolina, Basque Region, Spain

Variety: Hondarribi Zuri Style: Fun for Everyone

Notes: Don’t speak Espanol? Don’t worry, it’s not even Spanish, it’s Euskara… Txakoli (pronounced: chak-o-lee)

is easy to say and very easy to drink too. If you were in the Basque country your waiter would be pouring this from

above his head. Not just for show, this technique actually gets air into the wine and makes it taste even better. Poured from a height or not, there is no denying the delicious wine this is, the lovely, bright acidity works perfectly with clean fresh fruit that is truly delightful.

BUY ONLINE $38ea $34.20 per mixed 6

Pieropan Soave Classico 2014 Region: Veneto, Italy

Variety: Garganega with a splash of Trebbiano di Soave Style: Forward thinking & Aromatic

Notes: Organic viticulture and visionary adoption of screwcaps are just two things that make the Pieropan

family pioneers in the soave appellation. Their Soave is a benchmark for the region and considered one of the

greats worldwide and just a quick whiff and you can see why, with white flowers, gardenia’s and potpourri all making their mark. A fresh and versatile white, which

can be with food or easily without.

BUY ONLINE $33ea $29.70 per mixed 6

16

Hugel Pinot Blanc 2012 Region: Alsace, France

Winemaker: Étienne Hugel Style: Classic Alsatian

Notes: Wines from Alsace have taken a back seat to the growing interest in the Loire Valley, Jura and even

Savoie of late, but there are still absolutely outstanding wines coming from the region. The Hugel Pinot Blanc is a sprightly white that displays a gorgeous fragrance of

almonds and lime. A well-structured palate that is steely and taut, with thirst quenching appeal. Fashions come and go, but a tradition of quality like this is here to stay.

BUY ONLINE $24ea $21.60 per mixed 6

Cave de Chautagne Jacquère 2014 Region: Savoie, France

Variety: Jacquère Style: Mountain Wine

Notes: True alpine white wine from Savoie in Southeastern France, Jacquère is the most important

white grape of this booming but traditional wine region. This should be on top of your shopping list

for your next dinner party. Wild ferment with a bit of lees work coaxes out the lemon leaves and blossom notes,

looking almost ‘Chablisienne’ in its presence. This is a lovely and lithe white.

BUY ONLINE $23ea $20.70 per mixed 6

17

Paco & Lola Rías Baixas Albarino 2014

Region: Rías Baixas, Spain Style: Clean and Fruity

Notes: Here we have a great example of this very “in” Spanish variety that’s well worth a look… Clean and

fruity aromatics lead to an intricate palate that is lively and refreshing, with grilled pineapple and paw paws.

There is a waxy texture too, creating an ultimate all-rounder white with intrigue built in. From one of the largest producers in Rías Baixas, but sustainably grown

along with cutting edge winemaking.

BUY ONLINE $28ea $25.20 per mixed 6

Brokenwood Semillon 2014 Region: Hunter Valley, NSW

Winemakers: Iain Riggs & Stuart Hordern Style: Iconic Aussie

Notes: The Hunter Valley and Semillon go hand in hand with each other, they are a textbook match and a great Aussie appellation. While it’s generally known for ageability this Semillon from the iconic Brokenwood is drinking pretty darn well right now. Cut grass and fresh

limes are shining through in a juicy, vibrant wine. Ditch the Gin & Tonic and drink this by the poolside immediately,

or tuck a few away for drinking in a few years.

BUY ONLINE $26ea $23.40 per mixed 6

18

Vasse Felix Filius Chardonnay 2014

Region: Margaret River, WA Winemaker: Virginia Willcock

Style: Modern, Composed, Balanced

Notes: Now is the time of Australian Chardonnay, we’ve gone through the over oaked styles, moved on from the overly lean, or overly fruity wines and what

we’re now producing is world class. One leading light in this movement has been Vasse Felix with their

majestic Margaret River wines. The Filius Chardonnay is a fruit forward style bursting with flavour, toasty notes

of biscuit and cashew combine well with fresh mandarin and lemon sorbet.

BUY ONLINE $26ea $23.40 per mixed 6

In Dreams Yarra Valley Chardonnay 2014

Region: Yarra Valley, VIC Winemakers: Nina Stocker & Callie Jemmeson

Style: Chic Chardy

Notes: It’s early days for this new label from the Yarra, but they’re off to a very impressive start. With a strong

CV including vintages in Barolo, Rhone Valley, California and Emilia Romagna and many more between Nina and

Callie, this comes as no surprise. There is a feeling of sophistication with this Chardy; controlled fruit, savoury

elements and just a lovely consistency throughout the nose and palate.

BUY ONLINE $23ea $20.70 per mixed 6

Save Our Souls Mornington Chardonnay 2013

Region: Mornington Peninsula, VIC Winemakers: Jason Searle & William Downie

Style: Wine of Place

Notes: Save our Souls is a great venture between two mates; Jason and Bill, setting out to make wines that are primarily enjoyable to drink, but importantly, reflect their place of origin. With many years of experience between

both gents, it came as no surprise these wines were going to be a hit. The mealy and creamy texture balances

perfectly with zesty citrus fruits lingering on the palate. Delicious and tremendous value too!

BUY ONLINE $22ea $19.80 per mixed 6

Patrick Piuze ‘Terroir Decouverte’ Chablis 2014

Region: Chablis, France Style: Punching Above its Weight

Notes: Patrick Piuze's secret weapon is a gift for seeking out great terroirs from lowly appellations.

Treating top regional-zoned vineyards like they were premier crus. Fastidious viticulture and handpicking allows for a hands-off approach in the winery. Typical Chablis profile of oyster shell and white florals lead to

a lovely, flinty texture merging seamlessly with slivered almonds and lemon peel.

BUY ONLINE $42ea $37.80 per mixed 6

Mischief & Mayhem Bourgogne Blanc 2013

Region: Burgundy, France Winemaker: Michael & Fiona Ragg

Style: Top Value Burg

Notes: It seems Michael & Fiona Ragg have really stepped up the game in the last couple of years. They’ve made solid wines previously but this current Bourgogne Blanc is setting a new standard for their

brand. This is sourced from selected vineyards throughout Burgundy and the results are brilliant. Only 15% new oak is the support network here so the fruit shines: tinges of

lemon and elderflower matched with lovely texture whilst not being too overblown - a cracking

Chardonnay in any language.

Notes: From the iconic Rhone Valley house of Chapoutier, or more precisely, their Australian

Murdoch Hill Sulky Rouge 2015 Region: Adelaide Hills, SA

Winemaker: Michael Downer Varieties: Syrah, Merlot & Pinot Meunier

Style: On Trend…

Notes: A superstar on the rise, it seems everything Michael ‘Doc’ Downer touches lately is turning into gold.

The three varieties used here are rarely if ever seen in a blend together, but in another testament to Doc’s

winemaking it works a treat here. Each grape plays an important role, the Syrah with its white pepper and fruit sweetness, the Merlot adds that lovely fruit softness to

the blend and the Meunier contributes to the juicy palate along with some exotic spice. Well played Doc!

he’s a genuine great bloke.

Style: Serious Rhone

Notes: This label was formed in 2008 when Pierre-Henri Morel and Michel Chapoutier purchased twenty acres of vineyards aged around 50 years old in Châteauneuf-du-Pape including the famous Pignan

vineyard. Whilst Pierre-Henri is currently working in the Barossa Valley, his namesake label stays in good hands. Although classified Cotes Du Rhone, this wine has the presence contend with a good Châteauneuf-du-Pape; black fruits, aniseed and sweet spice play their parts

appropriately in this well-made Southern Rhone Grenache blend.

Willunga 100 Tempranillo 2014 Region: McLaren Vale, SA

Winemakers: Tim James & Kate Day Style: Vibrant

Notes: Although Willunga 100 is a relatively new label, the experience behind it has ensured a quick

rise to them becoming one of the best small producers in the Vale. Careful vineyard selection and management is key, this Temp coming from the cool and sandy-soiled

Blewitt Springs sub-region. Lifted aromatics and fine structured tannins as well as vibrant fruit and a lovely sweet spot in the middle make this oh so

easy to enjoy.

Lino Ramble Tom Bowler Nero d’Avola 2014

Region: McLaren Vale, SA Winemaker: Andy Coppard Style: Alluring & Absorbing

Notes: McLaren Vale Nero d'Avola continues to impress and prove how well suited it is to this region. The Tom Bowler from Lino Ramble is another fantastic example of how lively and striking this variety can look

when produced right in the Vale. A combo of cured meats and plums build an absorbing aroma, and whilst the fruit looks dark and alluring on the palate there is

plenty of spice and vibrancy to this fresh red.

Contesa Montepulciano d’Abruzzo 2013 Region: Abruzzo, Italy

Winemaker: Rocco Contention Style: Pizza & Pasta

Notes: Another outrageous value import from Italy, and under screwcap too for those of you worried about another cheap cork or god forbid a plastic closure! The best feature of this wine is its all-rounder capability. It's

medium bodied and super approachable on its own, but easily lends itself to a plate of food, as all good Italian

wines should. It’s also light enough to be enjoyed when things start heating up, but has plenty of flavour to keep

you satisfied when things get cold.

Delinquente The Bullet Dodger Montepulciano 2015

Region: Riverland, SA Winemaker: Con-Greg Grigoriou

Style: Polarising!

Notes: So, the Riverland isn’t exactly a trendy place to grow grapes, Montepulciano isn’t exactly a household name in Australia and this label isn’t going to be loved by everyone! But the proof is in the pudding and in this

case, the pudding is undeniably slurpable. And more power to Greg for championing the Riverland, by

making some great wines…

Cillar de Silos Joven de Silos Ribera del Duero 2014

Region: Ribera del Duero, Spain Winemaker: Oscar Aragon

Variety: Tempranillo (aka Tinto Fino) Style: The New Spain

Notes: The Aragon family have done an amazing job of transforming a business that once sold over-cropped

grapes to the bigger co-ops of the area, to now making the great wines produced by Cillar De Silos. This is a wine that is multi-talented, in which it is so fresh and sprightly

it can be consumed with ease, but at the same time there is so much going on, with aromas of cured meats, earth,

liquorice and cassis. And this is their mid-level wine!

Yangarra Shiraz 2013 Region: McLaren Vale, SA Winemaker: Peter Fraser

Style: Unstoppable

Notes: There is just no stopping the juggernaut that is Yangarra, they can simply do no wrong. It's not just their work with Grenache that we love but all things Rhone Valley inspired, in particular their work with

Roussanne and in this case Shiraz. What really impresses with this wine is the layers of fruit and spice making it quite the absorbing wine, yet still easy to approach.

Guthrie Syrah 2014Region: Adelaide Hills, SA Winemaker: Hugh Guthrie

Style: Cool Climate, Cool Wine

Notes: A style of Shiraz/Syrah we are seeing more and more of lately; which is something we’re really

happy about. Some use of whole bunches and early picking has helped craft a wine with lifted floral notes, bright strawberries and a deft touch of spice. This is a clever and bright Shiraz leaning more to Southern

Rhône or even Beaujolais in style, rather than SA. New school and cool!

Lambrook Shiraz 2013 Region: Adelaide Hills, SA Winemaker: Adam Lampit

Style: Rollin’ Hills

Notes: Could Adelaide Hills Shiraz be the next big thing? We think so. With more great examples like this wine from Lambrook we believe a few more people

will be supportive of this movement. A lavish palate with bright fruits, seasoned well with pepper and cloves.

Some lovely tannin completes the frame work making this quite food friendly too. A top value Shiraz for

everyday drinking.

First Drop Half & Half 2013 Region: Barossa Valley, SA

Winemakers: Matt Gant & John Retsas Style: Dark & Spicy

Notes: As the name suggests, this is a 50/50 blend of Shiraz and Monastrell, (aka Mataro or

Mourvedre). The booze is shaped with a gift for creativity and imagination that the First Drop boys

excel at. A textured palate of grainy tannins supports fresh black plums and earthy, savoury flavours of

clove, Asian 5 spice and szechuan pepper. First class stuff from First Drop.

Jim Barry The Barry Bros 2013 Region: Clare Valley, SA Winemaker: Tom Barry

Varieties: 70% Shiraz, 30% Cabernet Style: Definitive Clare, Classic Blend

Notes: Ah, the blend that is quintessential to the Australian wine scene, Shiraz and Cabernet...

Once again the Barry boys have produced an exceptional wine at the price: vibrant, unmistakably

Clare Valley to smell and taste, bursting with flavours of blackcurrant, mulberry and herbs, are fine,

elegant and juicy in the mouth.

Mitolo Angela Shiraz 2013Region: McLaren Vale, SA Winemaker: Ben Glaetzer

Style: First Impressions

Notes: Yet another outstanding effort from team Mitolo. Yes, this is a full-bodied Shiraz packed with flavour, but

the real skill here is this wine never appears over the top. A buoyant and brash wine with smart use of oak supports the supple and suave fruit with quite an imposing length.

A wine to take to a dinner where you need to impress, like meeting the in-laws for the first time…

Bodega Catena Zapata Alamos Malbec 2014

Region: Mendoza, Argentina Winemaker: Felipe Stahlschmidt

Style: Dinner Looms

Notes: The Alamos Malbec for several years now has been one of the top value imports in the shop. Every year upon release we are amazed at the value this wine delivers. A concentrated and supple palate with sweet fruit at the front is balanced by the typical Malbec notes of chocolate, leather and mixed spice.

Asking for food the second you open it.

Giribaldi Nebbiolo D’Alba Conca d’Oro 2013

Region: Piedmont, Italy Style: Top Value Import

Notes: We love Nebbiolo here at EEC, but unfortunately a Barolo isn’t priced for everyday

drinking. Which is why we get so excited when we find great value Neb like this… Instead of being the super dry style you would expect from this grape, the wine actually takes on a fun and lifted approach. Lovely fruit sweetness

plays with the cherry characters, all balanced by the classic tar notes any good Neb should have.

Terre a Terre Wrattonbully Cabernet Sauvignon 2013Region: Wrattonbully, SE South Australia Winemaker: Xavier Bizot & Lucy Croser

Style: Distinguished Cab

Notes: Cabernet might still be out of fashion to some, but those in the know can feel an uprising,

not least because of wonderful wines like this, importantly, grown in a great Cabernet region. This

is all about composure and structure, capturing rich and authoritative fruit. This Cabernet is all class, as you’d expect from the duo of Xavier & Lucy, who

have carried on two distinguished winemaking family legacies with Terre a Terre.
