Gospel: Luke 15: 1-13, 11-32 Alleluia! Imagine how you would have felt if you had been Mary Magdalene or Peter or John on that first Easter morning. What thoughts and emotions would the sight of that empty tomb have aroused in you? At first, Mary Mag-

dalene thought that Jesus' enemies had stolen his body. Heartbroken, she ran to tell Peter and John. They raced to the tomb and found that the burial wrappings, which had encased Jesus' body, were cast aside. Seeing this, they believed. 1.) Does your belief in the resurrection affect your everyday life? How you treat others? An early father of the Church wrote, "A Christian should be an alleluia from head to toe!" How can you live a life of praise?

Al ver eso creyeron. 1.) Crees en los efectos de la resurrección en tu vida cotidiana? ¿Cómo tratas a los demás? Uno de los padres de la Iglesia es cribió: "Un cristiano debe ser un aleluya de pies a cabeza". ¿Cómo puedes vivir una vida de alabanza?

Administrator’s Corner for Parish Bulletin: March 31, 2013 Easter Sunday - C

The Resurrection of Jesus John’s love for Jesus helped him interpret the events of Easter morning. When Mary Magdalene told the apostles what she saw at the tomb, John and Peter raced there to see for themselves. When John saw the way the burial cloths were arranged, he instantly understood. No one had taken the body. Knowing the habits of his friend, he understood that Jesus was resurrected as he had prom-ised. On Easter morning, John recognized that Jesus is the Christ, the one anointed by God with the Holy Spirit, that he was sent to reconcile us to God, and that Jesus was raised from the dead and is now judge of "the living and the dead." And John was there after the Resurrection when Jesus created the Catholic Church and commissioned her to preach and bear witness to Jesus and to God’s love for us. The lesson for us is that our love for Jesus and our devo-tion to him will eventually reveal the truths of many mysteries to us. The key is to love Jesus as intensely as his "beloved disciple." La Resurrección de Jesús El gran amor que Juan tenía por Jesús le ayudó a interpretar los acontecimientos de la mañana de Pascua. Cuando María Magda-lena les dijo a los apóstoles lo que había visto en la tumba, Juan y Pedro corrieron a ver por sí mismos. Juan compren-dió inmediatamente lo que había sucedido cuando vio como hab-ían ordenado las vendas en el suelo. Nadie se había llevado el cuer-po. Conociendo las costumbres de Jesús, su amigo, comprendió que había resucitado como lo había prometido. En la mañana de Pascua, Juan reconoció que Jesús era el Cristo, el ungido por Dios con el Espíritu Santo, que fue enviado para reconciliarnos con Dios. y que Jesús fue resucitado de entre los muertos y ahora es el juez de los vivos y los muertos ". Y Juan estaba allí después de la resurrección cuando Jesús creó la Iglesia Católica y la encargó a predicar y dar testimonio de Jesús y del amor de Dios por nosotros. La lección para nosotros es que nuestro amor por Jesús y nuestra devoción por él eventualmente nos revelará las verdades de muchos misterios. Announcements: Dear Parishioners, We all cherish our special memories of important people and events in our lives. We think back of birthdays, anniversaries and other special occasions in our lives. They lie at the very heart of our relation-ship with loved ones, fellow parishioners and friends. We also have special memories of Holy Week and Easter. Every year during Holy Week we relive the important moments in the last days of Jesus on earth. These memories remind us of His love for us. Jesus expressed that love through the gifts of the Eucharist, the Priesthood and finally the gift of His life for us. The Good News of Easter is that Jesus’ resurrection offers us the promise of our own resurrection, of that time when we will live with Him in everlasting happiness and unending peace. Just as spring returns to assure us that we have survived the onslaughts of an-other winter, Easter reminds us that we, too, have been created to be resurrected. The Good News is that we are destined to share a new life, an eternal life with Jesus, a life free of pain, suffering and death. I personally invite you to join your friends at Epiphany as we celebrate these great moments in our lives. My prayer is that you enjoy the happiness of this Easter. For Your Information: TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION: Over the centuries, the Church has demon-strated a wonderful ability to adopt a culture’s favorite symbols and customs and assign them new meaning. Easter eggs have a very ancient pedigree: nature’s perfect package, emblem of new life, dyed and decorated and given as gifts in ancient Egypt, Rome, China, and Persia. Just as the long hard winter is over, the egg bursts with promise of life and nourishment. Long ago, Christians came to see the egg not as a symbol of spring’s rebirth, but of ours, and as a sign of Christ’s tomb. A Polish leg-end says that Mary, in compassion for the soldiers at the cross, gave them eggs, but that her tears stained their shells with brilliant color. Legends have their origin in tales told around a hearth, but they often contain a pro-found truth. You are all invited to celebrate Flores de Mayo, Celebrating Mary in May. Everyday in May we will pray the rosary and offer flowers to our Blessed Mother Mary. During weekdays (Monday-Friday) we will begin at 6:00pm in the church. On the week-ends (Saturday & Sunday) we will begin after the 5:30pm Mass. We encourage everyone to come pray and offer flow-ers!

Para su Información: TRADICIONES DE NUESTRA FE: Hace casi dos mil años María Magdalena fue muy de mañana al sepulcro de Jesús. Fue a rezar como muchos hacemos ante la tumba de un ser amado. Esa mañana ella se convertiría en apóstol de los apóstoles, primera testigo de Jesús resucitado de entre los muertos. Siglos después el testimonio de la Magdalena sigue siendo importante en la historia cristiana. Du-rante estos días en Anguiano, España, hom-bres y jóvenes de las viejas familias de la zona bailan y caminan con una pequeña imagen de la Magdalena. Se visten con camisas y faldo-nes largos de muchos colores, mostrando la belleza de la diversidad hispana. Ellos bailan en honor de esa santa mujer de Magdala y lo hacen sobre andas de casi un metro de altura. Ellos toman la imagen desde la iglesia de su pueblo en las montañas en el norte del país y la llevan bailando por las calles empedradas bajando al santuario que han preparado para ella. Flores de Mayo: Todos están invitados a la celebración de Flores de Mayo, honrando a la Santísima Virgen María en Mayo. Durante los días de semana (lunes a viernes) comenzare-mos a las 6:00pm, en la Iglesia. En el fin de semana sábado y domingo comenza-remos después de la misa de las 5:30pm. Venga a rezar el Santo Rosario con nosotros y ofrecerle flores a la Vir-gen.
