Easter lunch in Denmark
At Easter we arrange an Easter lunch here in Denmark. We eat a kind of ‘open sandwich’ called ‘smørrebrød’ it is called in Danish. There are different kinds of topping on the rye , e.g. salad, shrimps and mayonnaise or herring with or without curry, eggs and onions and all sorts of other ingredients. It’s different from family to family what you eat, but the above-mentioned toppings are almost always there. In my family we also eat warm liver paste with bacon and mushrooms, ham with scrambled eggs, roasted beef and salmon with dill on the top. Adults drink beer or schnapps and children drink soft drinks or mineral water.
