Throughout the past 61 years, the Aspen Music Festival and School has fostered musical brilliance – in performance, in teaching, and in the lives of the musicians and music-lovers who gather together each summer under its auspices.

To bring together the finest music students,

artist-faculty and performers to create transformative

educational experiences within a community of artistic integrity

and innovation. Through the combination of study, listening,

performance, artistic renewal and reflection, we advance the

appreciation and understanding of the joys and complexities

of musical expression. We enrich the human spirit through

teaching and performing the great music of the world. We

respect and nurture the Aspen Idea, celebrating the union of mind,

body and spirit through the art of music.

Rehearsing is at the very heart of great

performance. All world-class musical

institutions need superior rehearsal spaces

– spaces where artists can refine their craft

and pursue the subtleties and nuances that

define great musicianship.

To support the level of artistic excellence at

the Festival, and to continue to attract the

best students, faculty, and guest artists to

Aspen, the Festival needs world-class halls

for teaching, rehearsal, and performance.

The Edlis Neeson Rehearsal Hall is

designed to be a superior rehearsal space

on the AMFS Campus. it is planned as

an ideal large rehearsal hall, with sterling

acoustics, clean sightlines, and harmonious

architectural lines. it can comfortably fit a

full orchestra, or accommodate large opera

scenes. Through large-scale plate glass

windows, it will overlook the pastoral beauty

of the ponds and central green.

For decades the AMFS has had to rely

on rented classrooms and common areas

in middle and high schools to rehearse

major orchestral concerts. By giving the

Festival an incredible rehearsal space, and

by lessening the need to rent practice areas

each summer, the Edlis Neeson Rehearsal

Hall will be a cornerstone of the Aspen

Music Festival and School’s excellence

for decades to come.

dream of light,space, and sound.
