Room ParentsThe Valentine’s Day pet themed parties were a huge hit with both the students and teachers . The kids had a great time decorating their classroom doors and were super excited to see Pete make the rounds once again as a judge . A big thanks to ALL of our room parents and party assistants for their help with the parties . The parties can’t happen without the help of our parent volunteers . The kids really look for-ward to the parties each year .

From the Principal...Dear Families,

Many great things are happening in March at Patterson Elementary! Students in grades 3, 4, and 5 will be taking the Annual Illinois Standards Achievement Test (ISAT), we’ll reach the end of third quarter before a well deserved Spring break . In the evenings, we have a musical, variety show, open house, and if you can believe it, orientation for parents of 2011–2012 Kindergarteners .

ISAT testing will be held during the week of March 1 . Third, Fourth and Fifth grade students will be assessed in the areas of reading and mathematics . In addition, 4th grade students will be assessed in science . It is extremely important that your child is present for these assessments . To help them achieve their best, please ensure they get a good night’s sleep and eat a healthy breakfast . The results of these tests are analyzed to help us plan for individuals, grade levels and school–wide improvement . Please contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions .

It’s almost time for Patterson’s Annual Open House . Family members are invited to visit classrooms with students on Wednesday March 16 anytime between 6:30–8:00pm . This is an informal evening to come and see some of the wonder-ful things our students have been working on in school . No formal presentation or private conferences will take place this evening, you are free to come and go anytime between 6:30pm and 8:00pm . As an added bonus, our young scien-tists who had experiments they were unable to display at this year’s snowed out Science Night, will be displaying their experiments in the multi–purpose room for your enjoyment . Stop by and check them out!

In addition to testing and open house, the following events are taking place this month at Patterson . There is an orien-tation for all incoming Kindergarten parents on March 23 at 6:30pm in the LMC . The Chorus Musical will take place on March 8 at 6:30pm . The Band and Orchestra Concert is scheduled for March 22 at 6:00pm at Crone . We also have the PTA Variety show on March 19, the Wheel of Wisdom assemblies for students March 25, the High School Star Raiders visiting Patterson, and some educational field trips planned as well . Our quarter ends March 25 and third quar-ter report cards will be sent home with students just before Spring Break .

March is an exciting month for students and families at Patterson Elementary . We hope to see you at some of our evening events!
