BackgroundBackground We have been examine political cartoons since the beginning of

the year.

They are considered an important form of expression in the Western world; political cartoonists understand this and use it to their advantage by exaggerating the points they wish to express.

A political cartoon is intended to send a clear message, with clear symbolism, that everyone can understand.

In a time before literacy was common, political cartoons could be used to make a point with very few words

It was a way to share a message with an entire population.

You will now be a political cartoonist to share a point about the beginnings of the Cold War with the population of our class.
