Hello Members,

RANKED #16 IN THE NATION FOR VALUE THROUGH GOLF ADVI-

SOR. Thank you to our fantastic staff. You are all awesome at

what you do.

COVID-19 has really impacted the start of our 2020 golfing

season as well as our overall life in general. School was cancelled

for the year and all of the Spring Sports as well. I feel so bad for

the graduating class of 2019 as this is a time those kids won’t ever

get back. I surely can remember my Senior year of high school

and how much fun it was looking into adulthood.

We are very excited to get back to some form of normal

starting the month of May. Our board has decided to open up our

league play back up as well as operations of the golf shop. It is

vital that we continue to practice our social distancing but also

utilize our great club and the awesome product that our mainte-

nance staff has produced.

Over the past month or so, our board has remained in con-

stant contact with each other as well as our staff to ensure the

safety of our members, staff and guests. It was a very difficult de-

cision to shut the club down to guests during the month of April

but we felt we need to protect our members and staff from con-

sumers coming to our facility to play that were members or sea-

son pass holders. As we transition back to opening up, we are ex-

tremely grateful for each and everyone of our members for your

continued support of our club. I hope to see you soon on the

course.

Date/Events to Re-member

GOLF SHOP

Well, we haven’t seen much traffic in the shop due to the shutdown from COVID-19. Things are looking optimistic as we plan to open the shop back up on May 4th. We’ve put a hold on a lot of merchandise that was supposed to arrive this spring but we still have plenty of stock for your golfing needs. Leagues look to start back up the first week of May and hopefully we can get back to normal soon. Please re-member to call into the shop to get signed up for league play. Also, we have the use of a High Value Launch Monitor in the GC Quad for all your lessons and fitting needs. This is a vital tool for us to use to properly get you fitting into he correct equipment for your game. We’ve added a couple new staff members to the shop. Diane Robertson will be working part time in the shop at two days a week. My brother, Rusty Cummings, has also joined our team. He will be working 5 days a week in the shop and also be available for lessons. Rusty has been out of the business for a few years and is very excited to get back into the game. He’s a Life Member of the PGA of America with getting his Class A in 1995. I started in the business with him back in 2000 at Marriott’s Tan-Tar-A. Rusty also played in a PGA Tour Event back in 1995 at the Greater Greensboro Open. To schedule lesson with Rusty, give him a call at (573) 330-0010.

Inside Story Headline

The month of April has brought many different battles, with temperature

swings, rain, and Covid-19. It has certainly been different to say the least but

for golf course maintenance operations, little has changed. We started the

month off with some warm temperatures which got the grass growing and

turning green on us. Zoysia grass emerged from its slumber only to be

affected slightly by frost damage. We applied two granular fertilizers to the

greens and have started our regular feeding and disease program for the

2020 season. Our practice area is complete and just waiting for the grass to

fill in on the surrounds. The new tee block on hole one for the white tee is

near completion with the remaining zoysia grass to arrive first of May. The

right bunker on hole #6 was redone with new drain tile and sand along with

a 2 foot burm to divert water away from the trap. With the excess water

flowing down the hill and poor drainage the old bunker could not handle

heavy rains. The new bunker is performing well and will receive sod the first

of May also. Tee block on hole 7 has been inching closer to completion as

well as the remaining irrigation and sod are the only two items missing until

it’s finished. We plan to have play on both tees on 1&7 within 3 weeks of

sodding. Zoysia patch is something we still struggle with and always will in

fairways early on in the season. As many of you see small circle like areas in

the fairways which is the disease. A little spray twice a year and will clean it

right up. Seed heads on the fairways have begun to make an appearance

and should persist for 3-4 weeks. Frequent mowing will be done weather

permitting to eliminate this as much as possible. We are ready for things to

return to normal and play to resume and as always we look forward to see-

ing and serving all our great members and guests!

GM Corner

May is upon us and hopefully we are getting back to somewhat of a normal-

cy here toward the end of this month. We’ve had to postpone two of our biggest

tournaments of the year this coming month in the TBB Memorial and Carts Fore

Vets Tournament. Leagues will start back up this month and hopefully play with

pick up as well.

2020-2021 Membership invoices were sent out by email a couple weeks ago

to those members who make a one time payment. If you didn’t receive your in-

voice, please let me know ASAP. These invoices are due by July 1st, 2020. The as-

sessment invoices will be sent out in the September timeframe for the 2nd year of

the 5 year assessment.

During these difficult times, it is vital that all members continue to support

your facility through ancillary means of revenue such as merchandise and food and

beverage. These revenue areas are vital to our overall financial performance and

allow us to continue to provide a superior product for our members and guests to

enjoy.
