Welcome to the Elektra’s 28th season of discovery. Our mandate to create, explore, and celebrate women’s repertoire resonates through a year in which we will honour the legacy of our co-founder with three world premieres by BC composers produced with the assistance of the Diane Loomer Commissioning Fund for Elektra Women’s Choir. The season opens on November 29th with Chez Nous: Christmas with Elektra, the concert that for many signals the launch of the festive season. This year, the brilliance of brass will light up our venues in New Westminster and Vancouver as we welcome special guests the Eric Hamber Women’s Chorale and A Touch of Brass. And on March 14th, expect a collaboration like no other when Elektra joins forces with Canada’s leading percussionist, Beverley Johnston for Impulse at Ryerson United. "...a whiz bang player with the soul of a poet...one of the most original and creative artists of our day” wrote the Halifax Chronicle. The capper on a season of discovery will be our third Tapestry International Celebration of Women’s Choirs on May 1st and 2nd.
