We can communicate only to the extent that we can translate.
We can communicate only to the extent that we can translate.
All communication is an exercise in translation.
A Plot of Actual Conversations ….
Think about it ……
For a simulated world to work, it must present us with those things we need to translate our experiences.
The elements of art are useful tools toward that goal.

Why do people visit virtual environments, i.e. Second Life?

How do virtual environments differ from video games?
Virtual environments do not have story or narrative.
Without story, there is no ending as in video games.
The avatars create the environment. The goal is virtual realism without
actually duplicating real life.
These are the Elements of the Game World

Narrative (in video games)Interactivity
What elements of the game matter?

Texture in this environment, refers to an image file that mimics a real surface in appearance or feel.
Space is very literal in virtual environments.
There is a finite area within which to create, (from the creative perspective), and to play (from the user’s perspective.)
Each visual and each audio is an object.
Objects take shape, and occupy physical space.
The most intriguing application of line in the simulated world is the series of
lines that chart the communication path between objects.
In this way, it is similar to theatre.
Color is sound. Color is light.
Color is emotion.
It is simply a matter of translation.
